Pittsburgh goes full on derp

Post by bignflnut »

The Pittsburgh City Council is pushing a ban on AR-15s and other commonly-owned semiautomatic rifles, as well BB guns and starter pistols.

SNIP

The ban also references “facsimile firearms,” which the City Council describes as “any toy, antique, starter pistol, or other object that bears a reasonable resemblance to an operable firearm, or any object that impels a projectile by means of a spinning action, compression, or CO2 cartridge.”
Because the GCA and NFA, all the other gun laws are working SO well....
We really are coming to the end of the line of poor reasoning...

Worse still is that they are doing this knowing full well that it is unconstitutional and will be struck down; Pennsylvania has preemption.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Some of the prevailing theory from my western PA / Allegheny County friends is that preemption is precisely why they are doing this. The state supreme court is now controlled by the party that believes stare dictis is best suited for things like abortion rights and not trifling matters such as those actually enumerated in the constitution.

Our pal BB62 has been over there doing some open carry, boots on the ground advocacy. There's more of that to come, I believe in warmer weather.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

It's more accurate to say that PA Carry has been doing some open carry, boots on the ground advocacy that an Ohio contingent, including BB62, has been participating in.

The mayor does have the full support and backing of the governor as well in this endeavour.

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto was joined by Gov. Tom Wolf, members of City Council and state Democratic lawmakers Friday in proposing legislation that would ban semiautomatic rifles and certain ammunition and firearms accessories within city limits.
