Man caught in crossfire is killed, murder charges dropped

Post by bignflnut »

Two men have been charged in connection to the July 2017 shooting death of Larry “Pepper” Moore, but neither are expected to face murder charges.

Investigators determined that Moore, 29, was inadvertently hit by a shot fired in self-defense in response to another gunshot, according to police. The case is resolved, as far as Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker is concerned regarding a potential murder charge, with both shooters facing a handful of other felonies.

Investigators determined that Jaykwon Anthony-Leshaun Dickerson, 22, fired a shot in the direction of Marveno Marshawn Matthews, 34, who shot back in self-defense, according to police. Matthews' shot struck Moore, which led to his death.

Matthews was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegally carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence. His case has been bound over to circuit court, and he has a pre-trial status conference scheduled for Jan. 17 in Kent County Circuit Court.
Nobody is going to come to Matthews defense, decrying the abusive "prohibited person" status he will evermore be tagged with. If he tampered with evidence, it's a crime, but the rest is an affront to RKBA. He's a man walking around on the street and now he'll be rung up for protecting himself, a Right that cannot be taken from him (unless he's incarcerated) . Unalienable.
