Police shoot man carrying a replica Thompson

Post by M-Quigley »

No details released yet as to what the person was doing with the replica other than carrying it at this time. The shooting allegedly happened a block from a campus property.

I was at a bourbon bar Saturday night which is patterned after the 1920's with the waitresses dressed as clapper girls. There was a costume contest which had many dressed as gangsters and other 1920's people. One fellow was walking around the bar with a Thompson as part of his costume. Nice trigger discipline but I quietly questioned the wisdom of carrying a replica (plastic) automatic rifle in the bar. I'm sure he had some liquor in his system.

It's flapper, NOT clapper.
Clap in those days as now has a totally different meaning.
My mother was a flapper.
I've got a photo of her with another young lady leaning against a 1920's Ford.
On the back is written, "Me and friend taken last summer."
Sigh! Nice one, Mom.

I attended a 1920's themed party back in the day where someone brought a real Tommy Gun with a drum magazine (unloaded) And in case anyone's wondering, yes it was legal, and no, he wasn't drinking alcohol. The party wasn't held in a bar. Back then you didn't have to be rich to buy a full auto firearm.
