CINCINNATI — Police in Cincinnati say someone stole a rifle and a shotgun from a deputy's unmarked take-home car.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office district commander Lt. Tory Smith didn't learn of the theft until Aug. 21 — and police say the guns could have been stolen as early as July 6. WCPO-TV reports the stolen items include a Colt AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle, a Remington shotgun, a tactical vest, five AR-15 magazines, cases for the guns and a pocket trauma kit.
Officials say Smith has been disciplined for leaving his vehicle unlocked. Lt. David Daughtery says authorities will prioritize getting the weapons back.

Re: Deputy has rifle and shotgun stolen from unlocked car
This happened back in July or August, and only now does the story appear. Odd.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!
