Hey!

'"Our patron conduct requires that you cannot bring a gun into the library," said Robin Wood, Assistant Director of Public Services for Cleveland Public Libraries. "So obviously we could not let you print a weapon in the library either."

HEYYY!! There's 3Dee printers in the Cleveland Libarry :P ! Watt else could she mean, in Engerish; I cannot carry the prohibited item into the prohibited area, to use as a 'form' to 'clone' a replacement or similar item, on the existing 3Dee printer. Not, on the 3Dee printer that does not exist. This is great newz, I need to print a part for an old toaster. Because I'm too cheap to get a new one hehe.

Or is it, they will not let you :?: print a picture of a firearm on their per page charge printer :?: Will that be the spin :?:
Acquisitions thus far:

-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)

Yeah, I'm that good

Trust the liberals to try to use specious arguments and circular logic to run against common sense and natural law. They want to now limit freedom of speech (3-D plans) to expand their gun control at all costs.

The next thing you know they will want to give robots person-hood status and citizenship. So if there is ever a day when someone gets tired of their girlfriend/robot and tosses "her" in the dumpster some liberal will get upset about it.

Watch the video and notice how she hesitates and sometimes deflects the most controversial questions. She must have been designed by someone with a liberal mindset.

The point of this minor thread drift is that technology changes a lot of demographics, lifestyles, economics and politics in our world faster than most people can keep up with it. The one factor that never changes is there will always be people that defy morality, common sense and natural law. In short, human nature never changes.

Caligula was a liberal. After all, he did marry his horse.

In short, while the plaintiffs and the judge are acting as if the settlement removed the gun-making files from the USML, Blackman says the government only temporarily stopped treating them as if they were on the USML. It's a subtle point that Lasnik may well reject at the next hearing in the case on August 10. The judge might reason that treating the files as if they are not on the USML is tantamount to removing them from the list.

But as Blackman sees things, the plaintiffs have no reason to believe the State Department will not go through all the legal requirements before officially amending the USML. Only if they fail to do so down the line would they have a legitimate procedural complaint.

That said, that arcane dispute about the niggling specifics of administrative law is far removed from the very important constitutional issues raised by the TRO. As Blackman notes, the TRO imposes "a prior restraint of constitutionally protected speech that is already in the public domain" yet Lasnik's order does not so much as mention the First Amendment.

Earlier this week, Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rand Paul (R-KY) led the fight to block an anti-gun and anti-free speech law targeting 3-D printed plastic guns. The law would prevent 3-D gun blueprints from being posted online by making it a crime to do so.

While most politicians, seemingly with the blessing of the National Rifle Association, were ready to allow the bill to go into law, Sens. Lee and Paul refused to back down.

When Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) attempted to pass the bill with unanimous consent, Lee objected, citing the fact that he hadn’t even had a chance to read the bill, while the first few words of it brought up red flags for him.

“It begins with the words, ‘It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally publish … ‘ That ought to be concerning to us, to each and everyone one of us, Democrats and Republicans alike. On that basis, I object,” Lee stated on the Senate floor.

SNIP

“NAGR was the only national gun rights group to work to defeat this sneak attack on the Second Amendment,” Brown stated. ” It’s no surprise that the two most pro-gun Senators, Sens. Lee and Paul (both NAGR Members) were the opposition to this gun grab.”

Brown also spoke about the NRA, who have done nothing to fight this piece of gun control legislation, by stating that “they put out a statement claiming credit for a long-standing gun ban that Nelson’s legislation would augment.”

The statement that Brown is referring to was from NRA’s Executive Director, Chris Cox, which takes credit for a bill banning untraceable firearms. In the statement the NRA refused to decry the attempt to enact an anti-gun, and anti-free speech measure.

This just in...the first amendment isn't the second amendment.

Remembering the claim of so many pro-RKBA, pro-gun, pro-second amendment groups that actively eschew any other "issues", the Cody Wilson case isn't a 2nd Amendment case. It's about the freedom of speech and distribution of information.

Wilson's project, which seems designed to make gun controllers' heads explode, is deliberately provocative. But his constitutional argument is based on four well-accepted principles of First Amendment law.

First, computer code is speech. As Wilson noted in his lawsuit against the State Department, several federal appeals courts have reached that conclusion. The expressive aspect of software is especially prominent in this case, where the code has an explicitly political purpose.

Second, prior restraint of speech is presumptively unconstitutional. The Supreme Court confirmed that rule in the landmark 1971 Pentagon Papers case, where it rejected the Nixon administration's attempt to stop newspapers from publishing articles based on a classified history of the Vietnam War.

Third, content-based speech restrictions are subject to strict scrutiny. That means the government has to show its policy is "narrowly tailored" to serve a "compelling" state interest.

Fourth, speech cannot be banned merely because it might facilitate crime. While someone who is legally disqualified from owning guns could use a Defense Distributed file to produce one, for instance, there is nothing inherently criminal about making firearms at home.
You want to be single issue? The issue is Liberty.
Wilson is an American Hero in every sense of the word, based on this work. He may own terrible music, visit gentlemen's clubs, and be a terrible person otherwise, but what he's doing for RKBA by putting gun control to death on a global scale, is not to be overshadowed, and he's doing it with the sword of the 1st Amendment.

No Compromise.

Cannot say I know anything about NAGR. A search here shows they have been discussed before. Their website says they have 4.5 million members. That is 3 million more than GOA and GOA gets a lot more press.

I've only ever seen NAGR, Dudley Browns and their various shadow groups doing fear mongering and money collection, while criticizing other active gun rights groups, with little to no useful lobbying or litigation. Of course according to their page they have almost as many members as the NRA and have outspent the NRA on lobbying. I find that hard to believe. https://www.saf.org/dudley-browns-despicable-deception/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
“All Dudley wanted to do was create controversy. He makes his money when there’s turmoil, real or perceived, because that’s what gets his members to write him checks.”

It is time to call Dudley what he is, a political bomb-throwing bully whose stock in trade is to incite distrust and discontent within the ranks of the gun rights movement to enhance his own fund-raising efforts and power base.
I know what work SAF has done, we've all seen the results.
As for me I'll pass on NAGR, there's too many other groups doing good work, make your own call.

A Texas man, who was ordered by a federal judge not to sell his files for 3-D printed guns online, has defied that order by selling blueprints on his website.

“Cody Wilson said at a news conference on Tuesday that he’ll make the plans available to anyone who wants them at any price,” according to Fox News. “He said sales started Tuesday morning and that he’d already gotten nearly 400 orders.”

A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle extended a ban on the sale of blueprints for 3-D weaponry Monday.

But Wilson does not plan to comply with the tyrannical order.

Hmm I thought the ruling said he couldn't post them online.. did it specifically say he couldn't sell them on a flash drive ?
Meanwhile You can download them from a dozen other websites for free. (but hey Cody needs money to continue the good fight,so supporting him isn't a bad idea)

The Washington Times, grudgingly reports:

“Cody Wilson, the founder of Texas-based Defense Distributed, is testing the limits of free speech, battling a Clinton-appointed federal judge and enraging gun control groups that say distributing the blueprints will lead to undetectable plastic guns flooding communities.

But Mr. Wilson said he is following the judge’s orders to the letter by stopping free downloads from the web. Instead, he is selling the plans and sending them to customers on flash drives through the mail and is considering email sales as well.

“I’m happy now at this point to become the iTunes of downloadable guns if I can’t be the Napster,” Mr. Wilson said as he announced his plans.

He is offering plans for 3D-printer manufacturing of parts for several rifles and handguns, including the popular AR-15 rifle and a 1911 pistol.

He suggests a $10 price for each sale but allows users on his website, DefCad.com, to name their own price.”

Defense Distributed’s Cody Wilson, the man who led the fight against the State Department, and now against various states, to get 3D-printed gun files onto the internet, is now being accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

SNIP

The alleged victim’s age is not specified, but the affidavit reportedly shows the girl is under the age of 17.

According to the report, Wilson allegedly met the girl at a coffee shop before driving her to a hotel in a “black Ford Edge four-door sports utility vehicle with a license plate that matches one registered to Wilson’s business, Defense Distributed.”

“The victim then told police that Wilson took her to the Archer Hotel at 3121 Palm Way. Surveillance cameras captured the two using the valet service, in the lobby and in the elevator,” KVUE reports.

The victim, who is not named, gives the room number at the hotel where the sexual assault allegedly took place. After the alleged sexual assault, the victim claims that Wilson paid her $500.

As of now, Wilson is not in custody.

Why does this sound like a set-up to me?

Whenever, a "controversial" figure appears to be getting the upper hand against government or very large entities, they get charged with a sex crime.

It's almost like a person who writes letters to the editor in a small town criticizing the Mayor, Sheriff or a Judge. All of sudden, they start getting pulled over for speeding tickets. And during one of the stops, his or her car is searched and voilà, there's drugs or child pornography in discovered during the search.

Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't this been tried against Supreme Court nominees?

I remain skeptical.

If it's a set-up, they went old school with this particular tactic. LOTS of precedent, and I am talking just here in the U.S. Pretty sure it was invented long before.

Austin police are working with international authorities to bring Cody Wilson, an Austin man at the center of a debate about 3D-printed guns, back to the country from Taiwan to face a sexual assault charge filed in Travis County on Wednesday.

Wilson’s last known location was the Taiwanese capital of Taipei, Austin police Cmdr. Troy Officer said.

Hours after the search began, Reuters reports that Taiwan police have apprehended Cody Wilson in Taipei after U.S. authorities annulled his passport.

Wilson, 30, was taken to immigration authorities in the capital by officers from Taiwan’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, according to local media reports and an official from the bureau who asked not to be named. However, two Taiwanese officials denied Wilson was arrested or in custody. His exact status was unclear.

Because his U.S. passport was later annulled, the agency’s statement said, he “no longer has the legal status to stay in Taiwan.”
