A man who saw a woman being attacked by another man with an ax Wednesday shot and killed the attacker, according to reports.

Jeff Lingo, chief of the Criminal Division of the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office, tells WTVG that Ohio residents can respond violent acts against themselves or others.

"There has to be that immediate threat," Lingo says. "Once that threat is over, your right to defend yourself or that other person is also over."

As of this posting, there are zero replies to the cleveland.com story. I guess the usual suspects in the anti-gun crowd do not have anything to say when the circumstances are so obvious.

Cleveland.com locks out comments on all "crime" stories, and has a single comment thread in a different location for all the stories posted on a particular day combined. They don't like to hear that criminals are bad, especially if they got what was coming to them. The combined thread is a mess. half the time you have no idea what story people are commenting on.
