I have played a FPS or two in my day. Never knew of any that instructed a player to build a pipe bomb.

The problem, if you want to crystallize the worldview, is secular humanism. SH teaches that people are basically good and there is no need for any oversight, no family, no parental authority, only blue sky and the goodness of the person to keep society in order. SH affirms that all people are special and capable of determining their own gender/preferences/logic/future, etc. Moral absolutes are replaced with situational ethics. Absolute and universal ethics are replaced by cultural norms that are pliable within historical eras. People aren't special because they're valued by their creator, they're simply bags of matter and cells that can be expended at will. Please consider the schools themselves and their informal teaching from 5-18 years of age, to be the issue at hand. Not simply games that appeal to males.

There is no God and no soul. Hence, there are no needs for props of traditional religion. With dogma and creed excluded, then immutable truth is also dead and buried. There is no room for fixed, natural law or permanent absolutes …. Teaching children to read is a great perversion and a high literacy rate breeds destructive individualism … the child does not go to school to develop individual talents but rather are prepared as “units” in an organic society …. The change in the moral school atmosphere … are not mere accidents, they are the necessities of the larger social evolution.” ~John Dewey (signer of the Humanist Manifesto)

“In the New Order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society … “ ~Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937)

“Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism, and every American public school is a school of humanism. What can the theistic Sunday schools, meeting for an hour once a week, teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five-day program of humanistic teaching?” ~C.F. Potter: (1930)

High-powered rifles such as the AR-15 can be fired more than twice as fast as most handguns.

Where does this info come from and why would someone believe it? Does your finger suddenly move more than twice as fast because you're holding a magical AR-15? Writer needs to watch some of the single action pistol shooting videos on YouTube.

Even assuming that a semi auto AR can be fired faster than a pump action shotgun, how fast does a mass murderer have to be when his victims are trapped in rooms with him and he has 30 minutes to shoot them?

I guess the only way to stop mass shootings is to limit everyone to just Joe Biden specials. Oh wait,

A total of 15 people were killed and seven others injured in his half-hour rampage, before police managed to subdue him

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/k ... -1.2679033

He had killed nine innocent people and wounded about 30.

There's also another mass shooting that was done with a Joe Biden special, but I couldn't find the link when I googled it. In that one a cop was the first victim and the murderer was only stopped when a couple of people in the crowd of victims ran to a hardware store, got some guns, went back and shot the murderer.

Incoming National Rifle Association President Oliver North says school shootings are the product of a “culture of violence,” not the Second Amendment.

“The problem that we’ve got is we’re trying like the dickens to treat the symptom without treating the disease,” Mr. North said on “Fox News Sunday.” “And the disease in this case isn’t the Second Amendment. The disease is youngsters who are steeped in a culture of violence.”

He said everything from violence on television to Ritalin, a drug used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, may be contributing to the problem.

“Nearly all of these perpetrators are male, and they’re young teenagers in most cases, and they’ve come through a culture where violence is commonplace,” Mr. North said. “All we need to do is turn on a TV, go to a movie. If you look at what has happened to the young people, many of these young boys have been on Ritalin since they were in kindergarten. Now, I am certainly not a doctor; I’m a Marine. But I can see those kinds of things happening.”

Ollie didn't grow up watching westerns and on-screen deaths? The Lone Ranger, Bonanza and the like? He only watched anti-gun MacGyver?

I'm with him on the mind bending drugs deal. But where does that come from? There's an active war against masculinity, yea, even in 5 year olds. That war is waged in and through the compulsory schooling system. So while it's easy to point to the drugs, they are but a tool used by secular humanists via their temples. "The disease" is indeed that the children are steeped in a negative environment, but it's not one of their own choosing, or of their recreational activities. It's the one where they're being catechized daily.

Sounds like you are conflating the Navy Yard mass shooting incident and the North Hollywood shootout.

I was erroneously in the belief that an armed guard was the first person shot by the Navy Yard shooter and relieved of his side arm.
I was wrong, that happened much later in the rampage.

In the North Hollywood shootout the police were heavily out gunned and a few borrowed hunting rifles from a nearby gun store.
This was long before regular LEO were issued AR-15s besides shotguns.

No, this was many decades before that. It was in the early part of the previous century, somewhere between 1900 to early twenties. The killer used a double barreled shotgun, only fired one round at a time, reloaded, and snapped the shotgun shut to fire again. The uniformed cop that was shot was just walking a beat, as was the practice at the time, and was the only armed person in the crowd (besides the murderer) IDK if this was because of some carry law at the time or merely ordinary citizens didn't carry there because they didn't feel the need to.

During one of his reload attempts, someone ran towards him, and he quickly closed the shotgun before loading it, and fired the 2nd barrel at the unarmed defender. At that point the shotgun was empty, but everyone else was taking cover or running for their lives. I thought at first I was confusing this story with the 1903 incident, but this incident I think happened later, and in a northeastern state. Also in the 1903 story the carnage only stopped because the murderer commited suicide. In the other one he was stopped because a couple of civilians ran to a nearby hardware store, yelled that a maniac was shooting people, and the store owner gave them long guns, at least one of which was used to stop the shooter. I wish I could find the story, but it's been a couple of years since I read about it. I tried all the possible keywords to find it, but no success. One website detailed the number of mass shootings between 1900-1910, 1910-1920, (2), 1920-1930, etc, but never gave the sources.

The suspect’s attorney, Nicholas Poehl, has said he is investigating whether his client endured any “teacher-on-student” bullying after reading reports of the teen being mistreated by football coaches. The school district issued a statement saying it investigated the accusations and “confirmed that these reports were untrue.”

The elder Pagourtzis said his son took a legally owned shotgun and handgun from his closet before leaving for school that day. The teen didn’t own firearms of his own, he said.

“My son, to me, is not a criminal, he’s a victim,” he said. “The kid didn’t own guns. I owned guns.”

SNIP

Antonios Pagourtzis said his son never displayed any signs that he would be capable of such violence, explaining that he didn’t fight with others, didn’t drink alcohol and seemed to enjoy healthy pursuits such as working out.

“He pulled the trigger but he is not this person,” he said. “It is like we see in the movies when someone gets into his body and does things that are not done. It’s not possible in one day for the child to have changed so much.”

He said that after the teen had been taken into custody, he and his wife were allowed to visit him for 15 to 20 minutes.

“I saw the child. I didn’t see a child who is a murderer. A pure child, a child who was ashamed to look me in the face,” his father said. “He was thinking of his sisters, how his sisters will be able to get about. He said he loves me. He told his mother he loves her, and he will try to be strong to help us cope.”

Selling crazy anywhere he can.

I found the incident that I was referring to. It was in Georgia in 1915. Although the New York Times said it was an "automatic" shotgun, it was actually a double barrel break open shotgun. Even over a hundred years ago, the NYT can't get the facts right (or chooses not to?)

I include two different links because one says the BG was stopped by a citizen with a handgun, the other said that while the GG with the 32 caliber handgun hit the BG, the BG was actually put down by the other GG that requested a shotgun.

Rampage with a 10 GAUGE SHOTGUN!

Interesting that there was a copycat rampage in a neighboring town 10 days later. (Third link).

I didn't see that until you mentioned it, thanks.

Another interesting thing is the killer was able to shoot over thirty people mostly loading and firing one shell at at time. After one episode of firing both barrels, he became concerned about someone rushing him while he was reloading.

No one was able to disarm him because, as eyewitness Dr. G.W. Blanton told the Brunswick News a few days after the shooting, Phillips was running the double-barrel with what we would call today a “tactical reload.” Having been caught flat-footed with an empty gun in his second barrage when he stood at the top of a stairwell, the crafty murderer thereafter kept one live shell in one chamber, ready to fire with a quick movement — which simply closed the action. Dr. Blanton told the newspaper he had been waiting for Phillips to run dry so he or someone else could jump him and disarm him, but Phillips never gave them the opportunity. Never underestimate your opponent!

If you've ever watch a video or TV program of Old West 3 gun competitions you can see that with practice you can reload a double barreled shotgun almost instantaneously.
