State funded University......sounds like Ohio “state funded” universities are becoming more like Berkeley, Rutgers, Harvard, et al. As Ohio taxpayers, whose taxes support our universities, we better take a strong position against this type of infringement, question is what action can we take. There needs to be a strong outcry in support of this lady.
Hopefully she can at least go after the idiot(s) that filed a false report.

She is within her rights to 1) file a police report over a false report, but the Sheriff might be the proper authority (county jurisdiction would include the campus and the campus police would likely be biased) and 2) file a civil suit regarding the matter. First, the report was proven to be unfounded as to possession of a gun. Second, it is likely the friend would be able to back up her story as to the conversation.
