6 time olympic medalist files suit against CA mail order ban

Post by Bruenor »

Go KIM !! And here I thought it was only foreign countries that force their athletes to go elsewhere to practice their shooting discipline needed for the Olympics. Kim's practice routine goes through an absolutely insane amount of ammunition.

Side note: the story about how she met her husband was pretty funny, he, not knowing she was an Olympic Skeet/Trap shooter, invited her to the range to shoot clays. When he asked about the fancy shotgun she showed up with, She told him she borrowed it from her uncle. heh the joke was on him. Would have loved to have seen his face when she didn't miss a single bird. :)

The Olympian, who is on the 75-member board of the National Rifle Association, was joined in the lawsuit by its state affiliate, the California Rifle & Pistol Association, as well as a number of out of state ammo retailers who can no longer ship their products directly to state resident’s homes under the new rules.

The 31-page lawsuit argues Prop 63, which Second Amendment advocates characterized as “Gunmageddon,” outlaws direct mail order ammunition sales, puts all transfers of ammo under a “burdensome registration scheme,” imposes costly fees and price increases on bullet sales and mires would-be vendors in piles of Sacramento red tape. As such, it not only violates the Dormant Commerce Clause by discriminating against interstate commerce but also tramples on the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Rhode, who made history in 2016 to become the first woman to medal in six straight Olympics, argues she is required to use special competition ammunition sanctioned by her sport’s governing bodies, which she receives from a training facility in Arizona and brings back into the state. She also regularly has ammo sent to her home, range, and coach by sponsors, needed as she fires an average of 800 rounds daily to keep on top of her game. Now, with Prop 63, both means of obtaining her needed ammunition are illegal.

K Rhode is my hero.
Athletic as all get out despite the BMI tyrants.
Knows her way around the range, easy on the eyes, bright as the sun....mah daughters will know about K Rhode!

She should be all over proRKBA media.

Still going strong... even this week!
Kim Rhode’s world record in skeet shooting has fallen — to Kim Rhode.

The six-time Olympic medalist hit 58 out of a possible 60 targets Saturday at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea, shattering her previous world record of 56 and claiming the gold medal. This is her 35th career world cup medal.

Rhode’s record-breaking run in Changwon wasn’t exactly a shot in the dark. The 38-year-old Californian connected on 56 targets en route to winning the world cup event in Guadalajara, Mexico, last month, equalling her own world record.

But frustration in the qualification rounds in Korea, where she did not perform to her usual standard and placed fourth, threatened to derail that momentum. Though qualification results do not carry over to the final, they did make Rhode’s performance in the medal round that much more exciting — even for her.

This is a woman whose amazing sporting accomplishments have pretty much been entirely ignored by popular media.

It's sad, really.

With a pre-teen daughter who is growing up in today's atmosphere of women's empowerment, I find it shameful that the media would allow Rhode's Olympic (recognized legitimate international sports) victories to go unnoticed.
