Veterans Home of California Yountville under lockdown

Post by bignflnut »

Three people were taken as hostages and shots were fired at the Veterans Home of California in Yountville -- the largest in the United States -- near the dining hall Friday morning, prompting a swarm of police activity.

Police said at least 15 to 20 shots were fired in Building G, starting about 10:30 a.m. It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries and there was little information about the shooter.

FBI is sending a SWAT team to negotiate with the shooter and agents are already at the scene. As KTVU's Mark Ibanez arrived at the scene he was told by SWAT to stay behind something, "because this guy has an automatic weapon."
