NYPD Files: Officers Can Lie/Beat people, still keep job

Post by JU-87 »

Secret NYPD Files: Officers Can Lie And Brutally Beat People — And Still Keep Their Jobs
Internal NYPD files show that hundreds of officers who committed the most serious offenses — from lying to grand juries to physically attacking innocent people — got to keep their jobs, their pensions, and their tremendous power over New Yorkers' lives.
March 5, 2018.
Many of the officers lied, cheated, stole, or assaulted New York City residents. At least fifty employees lied on official reports, under oath, or during an internal affairs investigation. Thirty-eight were found guilty by a police tribunal of excessive force, getting into a fight, or firing their gun unnecessarily. Fifty-seven were guilty of driving under the influence. Seventy-one were guilty of ticket-fixing. One officer, Jarrett Dill, threatened to kill someone. Another, Roberson Tunis, sexually harassed and inappropriately touched a fellow officer. Some were guilty of lesser offenses, like mouthing off to a supervisor.

At least two dozen of these employees worked in schools. Andrew Bailey was found guilty of touching a female student on the thigh and kissing her on the cheek while she was sitting in his car...

I heard a while back that the Chicago PD was being forced to open its disciplinary (giggle) records.

They must make "Training Day" look like "Hello Moon".

In the meantime, an anti-gun police chief can appear before the media, in uniform, spewing anit-gun-bovine-excrement. The officers under his authority are not permitted to make media appearances, UNLESS, the officer sticks to an anti-gun script.

If a pro-gun police officer were to make a media appearance with pro-gun statements, it would not take long for the anti-gun police chief to fire him or her.

Another sad truth is that whenever an officer testifies in court, he or she is automatically given greater credibility by an uninformed/gullible jury. With everything that I've seen out of law enforcement and the lawyers, I would automatically be suspicious of a police officer's testimony.

Here's an extremely egregious example of cops and prosecutors behaving in a corrupt manner.

From the article:
Nearly 40 years later, a witness named Eddie Vernon recanted his testimony and county judges cleared them of the charges. Vernon, who was 12 years old at the time of the killing, testified in 2014 that detectives pressured him to lie on the witness stand and that police manipulated him.

This also makes one wonder how many other innocent people are punished or dead because of cops that lie and cheat.

It may be worth mentioning that New York is a heavily "gun controlled" area. Highlighting officer misbehavior in a gun controlled area seems relevant to RKBA.

Even if the ACLU is repulsed by the acts against the Rights of the people, in an age where POTUS is called evil incarnate and worse, we are supposed to be encouraged to surrender our means of defense to people who do not honor our Rights?

Someone needs to work on their messaging.
