California Tehama County school shooting

Post by bignflnut »

Three people were killed in a shooting Tuesday morning that started at a home and moved to an elementary school in Tehama County, and the shooter was also killed by law enforcement, the sheriff's department said.

Multiple shots were fired about 8 a.m. at Rancho Tehama School on the outskirts of Corning, northwest of Chico, Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said.

The news coverage this morning indicated that the guy stabbed his neighbor about a year ago and had a TRO. Later in the story, they described how he was a nuisance because of how often he was firing off shots on his property. So.. TRO = disability for purchasing or possessing firearms and he was known to have firearms, so it sounds like he wasn't forced to surrender his guns, or perhaps didn't surrender them all? Edit: Or did the TRO expire?

Reports just stated a long semi-automatic rifle, not an assault rifle or assault-style rifle. Anybody know what it was? It sounds like a rifle used in an assault.

I thought most TROs in most states restricted possession of firearms, especially TROs related to violent/stalking behavior. Then the neighbors are calling police because of excessive shooting (which in a rural area takes a lot) so they were definitely aware he was in possession of firearms.
God,

the courage to change the things I can
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

Carrying a gun is a right, not a crime.

Gun control is racist.

A judge had barred the Northern California man who went on a deadly shooting rampage from having guns after he was charged with stabbing a woman earlier this year.

Court records also show that Kevin Neal was charged with illegally firing a weapon and possessing an illegal assault rifle on Jan. 31. The 44-year-old was charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors.

The court records show a judge ordering Neal to stay away from the woman who was stabbed and her mother-in-law on Feb. 28. As part of that protective order, Neal was barred from having guns.
*GASP*
The various and sundry laws that we rely on to keep Cali safe failed, again. Hmmm, if we aren't going to be governed by laws...perhaps morality is worth another look?
How does a person retain the right to walk around freely, but not to KABA? One of these things is not like the other (sounds like he should have been locked up, but overpopulation of prisons...tell me again how one doesn't need firearms to protect oneself).
Can you imagine?
