This is a good example of why national reciprocity is a good idea. She had a gun in her trunk but not on her, even though she had a Missouri CCW permit. Maybe if she had been carrying it she wouldn't have gotten 24 stitches.

It was in the console, not the trunk. National reciprocity would have had no bearing on the outcome in this case....she had a concealed carry permit. And, a Glock 380 handgun in the console of her truck.

A quick check on USA Carry says no (no surprise there). That said - she was carrying illegally? I am not going to presume to kow the laws in Illinois, but perhaps that is permitted.Cruiser wrote:But does Illinios honor Missouri?

Illinois doesn't do reciprocity with any other states, at least yet. Nor do they issue non-resident licenses. Can't recall if they allow transport of a loaded handgun in the passenger compartment of vehicles.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

As long as she has a valid concealed carry license from another state she can carry a loaded handgun in the car. (source: Handgunlaw.US)

And that's good, except that the initial knife attack took place outside the truck, which is where she should've been able to defend herself without violating the law. If she's a good enough person to carry a gun in her vehicle, she ought to be able to carry it on her person.WestonDon wrote:As long as she has a valid concealed carry license from another state she can carry a loaded handgun in the car.
