Possibly, I have read he shares "his" SSN with a Jesus Quintero. Not a typical habit of US citizens. He is not registered in Nevada as a security guard, a requirment out there. I am guessing MGM will be sued out of their collective socks. But I will hold off on any more speculation until after he is grilled by Ellen. :shock:

Ellen fails to ask the questions..

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ooter.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
During the interview, Ellen explained that Campos had decided to do just one interview because he doesn't want to 'relive' the shooting.

But his choice to do that interview on Ellen was likely deliberate. The comedian-turned-talk-show-host is more known for her dancing and pranks on celebrities than hard-hitting interviews with headline makers.

Her interview from Campos did not deviate from form.

When Campos went through his recollection of the night, Ellen did not press him to clarify some of the lingering questions about the official timeline - such as whether he or hotel officials delayed calling police for six minutes after he was shot.

I recently heard that if Campos is an illegal alien, then MGMs insurance coverage is damaged in some significant way.
Who knows why, but somebody is carefully managing what this dude says and where he says it.

A laptop computer recovered from the Las Vegas hotel room where Stephen Paddock launched the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was missing its hard drive, depriving investigators of a potential key source of information on why he killed and maimed so many people, ABC News has learned.

SNIP

Paddock, however, left behind no such writings or evidence.

He is not the first mass shooter to destroy or hide digital clues.

In 2007, Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung Hui removed the hard drive of his computer and disposed of his cell phone shortly before the massacre. Authorities even searched a pond for the missing digital media, but the devices were never recovered.

The 2008 Northern Illinois shooter, Steven Kazmierczak, removed the SIM card from his phone and the hard drive from his laptop, and neither was recovered.

In 2012, Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza had removed the hard drive from his computer and smashed it with a hammer or screwdriver.
Not the first, indeed...

It sounds like the only person that might know the motive is that alleged mystery woman/ prostitute who allegedly told someone at the concert that they were all going to die that night. :roll:

In yet another obvious example of the massive cover-up currently underway surrounding the Las Vegas Massacre, authorities with both the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI have refused to provide any updates to the media since they ridiculously changed their entire narrative two weeks ago.

The silence from authorities has gotten so obvious that even local mainstream news outlets are sounding the alarm. When you couple this with the documented evidence that points to both the LVMP and the FBI lying directly to the American people you have all the hallmarks of a classic false flat terror operation.

“Fifty-eight people killed. More than 500 injured. And yet, nearly a month after the Las Vegas Strip experienced the worst mass shooting in modern American history, local and federal authorities are refusing to fill in the blanks,” The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

SNIP

By Oct. 13 — the last time the Metropolitan Police Department or the FBI addressed the media or public — something had changed. The sheriff, who had been straightforward and stern, was now emotional and at times combative. Both he and the FBI failed to provide much new information, and at the end of the meeting, they refused to take questions.

Since that day, the only person who has shed more light on the investigation is Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos, who was shot in the leg while approaching the gunman’s room. His platform to share that information? “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” which aired last week. He hasn’t made himself available to the media since.

Amazingly, when the Review-Journal contacted the FBI, they were literally told that releasing information to the public in a timely manner doesn’t matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

FBI cover-up artist Sandra Breault told the paper that, “It doesn’t matter,” when asked why there had been no new updates. “It’s an ongoing investigation, and unless there’s something to report, there will not be a briefing.”

I wouldn't necessarily say they are trying to cover anything up. Instead they are simply perplexed at everything. This shooter left no digital evidence behind, no notes on why, etc to determine a motive. About all they have are facts from the night of the shooting and not much leading up to it. I'm not really sure what they could easily release at this point besides "xx number of rounds were found in the room" or "these are all of the weapons confiscated" at which point maybe LE is trying to help the general public by not releasing any of that so the elected won't try to push for bans of it all.

Sometimes it's hard for people to accept that no, there really isn't an answer for "why." Just ask my five year old.

I've seen the list of firearms. There's nothing anybody who knows guns will be surprised at other than the fact that he had no particular brand affinity.

Has there been any "official" word on number of rounds fired? Or number of unfired rounds left over?

I've not run across any stories that distinguish the number of deaths and injuries by bullets vs. the panicked trampling that must have taken place. Call it professional curiosity given my years in emergency service.

This subject isn't new to me: It was during my time in high school that the Who concert tragedy took place at Riverfront Coliseum (now U.S. Bank Arena). Had gone to other rock concerts there in the months before, the general admission seating, plus the arena staff only opening SOME doors in each bank of them, made for a disaster that would have happened sooner or later. You'd enter among a throng of people, and sometimes your feet barely touched the ground. It was all you could do to navigate your body through an open rather than towards an unopened door. I was also teenager when the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire took place, and some years afterwards took a class that was given by one of the people in charge at that tragic event. People were killed by more than just fire and smoke inhalation that night, to be sure. Survivors reported it was terrifying.

I don't state any of the above to place blame, it's quite understandable that people would do anything to get away from something so horrific as gunshots raining down, or a fire.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Agreed - and I think that this is very important both for the authorities to disclose, as well as for us to be educated about.

Fortunately, I've never been caught-up in such circumstances, but it's something that came to-mind recently with events such as the Mumbai train station stampede: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/ ... -rush-hour" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm lucky to work in a very multi-ethnic environment, and when I spoke to my far-Eastern and southeast-Asian colleagues about this, they invariably recommended getting out perpendicular to the throng if at all possible. Failing that, their advice is to try to go "with" the energy of the crowd, angling toward the perimeter so as to be able to achieve the above. In every instance, the persons I interviewed said that it was absolutely impossible to go against the flow, and likened their strategy to swimming with a strong current to the opposing shore.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Brian D. - I'm interested to hear of others' experiences, too.

Re: Mass shooting at Mandalay Bay Casino in Vegas - Lawsuits

Post by Bruenor »

now the lawsuits begin. Curious how people expect the hotel to identify 'the signs' that the shooter was deranged.. Do they train all their hotel staff to identify 'red flags'. Sorry you can't rent a room here you look deranged. That will go over just great :)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -bill.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Several lawsuits - including one representing 450 people - have already been filed against the hotel and its parent company MGM Resorts International.

Live Nation Entertainment, the concert promoter, is also being sued, as well as the estate of mass murderer Stephen Paddock, the manufacturer of the bump stocks he used to fire rapidly and the Route 91 Harvest festival venue.
In the 2010 case, the court ruled that the assault was 'foreseeable' because similar instances occurred in the past.

Therefore the suits are likely to hinge on whether the October 1 shooting was 'foreseeable'.

Legal experts have told Business Insider that attorneys might argue that, given previous shootings in the US, the hotel should have known to look out for them.
MGM released a statement to Business Insider explaining that the shooting was a 'terrible tragedy perpetrated by an evil man'.

It went on: 'These kinds of lawsuits are not unexpected and we intend to defend ourselves against them. That said, out of respect for the victims, we will give our response through the appropriate legal channels.'

I knew this would come, someone trying to make some big bucks against a multi-million (if not billion) dollar enterprise between the concert promoter and the hotel. I'd be curious to learn more about the 2010 assault but my guess is it was nothing like this. How could anyone say this was "foreseen." And any judge that would agree is opening Pandora's box. I also hear they are saying the hotel should have known since he carried multiple bags up the service elevator (which requires one to be escorted.) Well, last I checked in Vegas you can get nearly anything if you pay the right amount. Want to watch your food be made? Just tip a few hundred to the chef and he'll escort you in the kitchen.

And don't people see that the Aurora shooting had the theater win and they asked for $700k in legal fees back from the victims. I'm not sure if they dropped that case based on saying the plaintiffs agreed to not appeal their loss or what.

Now, the part I'm highly puzzled about is how they are filing this in California. I don't see how any court in CA would have legal jurisdiction over the MGM or Live Nation Entertainment, neither of which are in CA if I heard correctly.
