Nashville church shooting possibly stopped by armed citizen

Post by M-Quigley »

I say "possibly" because after the usher unsuccessfully tried to stop the shooter without a gun, he then left the church, went out to his car, retrieved a handgun, and then confronted the shooter. The shooter then allegedly shot himself.

U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann tweeted that his prayers are with the victims.

"A shooting in a place of worship is a despicable, heartless action," he said.
I think all mass murders of innocent people are despicable heartless actions, regardless of the location. I've occasionally heard or read of people who say in effect, "I'm not opposed to people in general carrying concealed, but I don't think they should be allowed to carry in a church." Or, "Guns don't belong in a church". Anyplace where there are large groups of people and no armed security is exactly where guns carried by law abiding gun owners belong. People that are inclined to commit mass murder don't care whether it happens at a church of not. If they cared about that, they probably wouldn't be committing murder anyway. :(
