SPLC proposes states "amend" their OC laws

Post by docachna »

States are not powerless to change their gun laws. All it takes is the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and the common sense to know that guns and public protests do not mix. Indeed, the events in Charlottesville last weekend prove that the combination is a recipe for disaster. Mayors and other local officials should demand that state legislatures temper their open-carry laws with a little common sense.
Now WHY didn't I think of that ????

Common sense. Yeah, that's the ticket.................

After all, what could go wrong with having protests become carry prohibited zones. It's not like mass shooting almost exclusively happen at places where law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry. Or that some turn protests into riots or anything. Oh. Wait.

Or more to the point of what SPLC should care about and be familiar with: it's not like southern states ever had "public gathering" laws that were designed to keep those pesky coloreds from getting all up in arms.

Great idea, let's bring those back.

Here's a better idea. When the Klan comes to town, how about you try just ignoring them? No need to "take a stand against hate" or counter demonstrate. There's a group of abortion protesters who gather outside a nearby Planned Parenthood office (that does not do abortions there) every Saturday. They wave their signs, do whatever. When the started coming 20 years ago people it was a big group. People would slow down to gawk, honk their horns in support. Counter demonstrators would do the same on the other side of the street and it could get rather contentious at times. Nowadays it might be one or two people and I haven't seen a counter demonstrator in years. The horn honking has decreased significantly and that Planned Parenthood office is still doing a brisk business.

The Democrat Party is returning to its racist roots of gun control.

No Klansman ever wanted to attend a lynching where HE might end up hanging from the tree. I'm sure that [anti]fa feel the same way.
