A Walmart in Indiana is under fire after a photo of a gun display quickly spread online. The sign above the gun display reads “own the school year like a hero,” it and appears to market the firearms as back-to-school items.

FOX59 traced back the original photo, which appears to have been tweeted by a woman named Leanna on Wednesday morning. FOX59 spoke with Leanna who confirms she took the photo, and she provided us with the original copy.
Easier to get a stun gun in the backpack...but...to each their own...

I really couldn't care less. It would be a non-starter if schools hadn't gone off the deep end with zero tolerance garbage. Most of us know, if not remember directly, that high schools had RIFLE TEAMS in the not-so-distant past.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Not that big of a deal but somebody was not thinking clearly that day...I see random drug tests in that store's future.

My brother had a "different" sense of humor. He worked in a factory that had a substantial number of refugees from the region of the former Yugoslavia. Many of their parents/grandparents had literally been shipped to Auschwitz. They planned a moral campaign to promote unity among the workers. They had a contest for slogans. My brother put in "Work shall make you free". To the historically challenged, this phrase was over the gates to Auschwitz. You may say what idiot would not see that BUT, my brother was called into the manager's office who was pleased to tell my brother that he had won the contest! Yes, the banner had been made to place over the main entrance to the plant! This left my brother desperately explaining the joke. Stupidity is timeless.

I always thought that motivational posters sucked. Don't get me wrong; I'm a highly motivated person until my employer lies to me, cheats me out of what I rightfully earned, tries to make me work more without pay or cuts my pay during bankruptcy protection then gives the CEO a bonus and tries to terminate my pension.

If you ask me, all of the stupid motivational signs and posters ever made are just as bad as the motivational sign over the concentration camp at Auschwitz. And listening to motivational speakers is like listening to Colonel Klink tell us why there has never been an escape from Stalag 13.

Back to the sign at Walmart. Does anyone seriously think that very many people were paying attention to the sign until it appeared in a Tweet?

It's not the posters that suck...it's the kind of people who put them up who suck.

On Friday, Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson told The Associated Press that the company was the victim of a prank.

“We have definite proof it was a prank,” he said. However, Crowson failed to mention what that “definitive proof” was.

“Was an image manipulated? Did a customer move a sign for a joke? Did an employee deliberately or inadvertently place the ‘Own the School Year’ sign on the wrong display?” questioned The AP.

However, Crowson did mentioned that the photo was not taken at a store in Evansville, Indiana, as one woman – the woman who allegedly took the photo – claimed. This means the origins of the photo are still unknown to the public.
