CA - Mad Max arrested

Post by Bruenor »

Love the description of the firearm..
A pat-down search revealed Ernest carrying “numerous illegal weapons,” including a sawed-off shotgun with “ammunition tactically attached to it for easy access.” He also allegedly wore two large knives positioned for easy access, and had brass knuckles.

That tactically attached ammunition is a must, when you have a single shot sawed off shotgun..

I wasn't sure yellow ALWAYS indicated 20g so I got to a bigger screen and blowed up the pic, BEAR.

Not necessarily. Nothing says that the ammo on the gun would work with that gun. It seems to be the new way to strap heat in the big city. Here in Cleveland the mayor's grandson was recently arrested for CCW. One of his lawyer's arguments to the media has been that the magazine and ammo he was carrying with the gun weren't compatible. Yes, I'm about as confused as I'm sure the rest of us are.

Brian, 20 guage shells are the only shotgun shell that has a designated color, what I was told the reason was is to keep people from loading a 20 guage into a 16 guage which is bad ju-ju.

As best as I can find, Federal started color coding shotshell hulls in the 60's.

20ga was yellow.

Other manufacturers followed suit, coloring their hulls to their own code, but still making 20ga hulls yellow.

Whether this was for safety or simply random, I can't find any definitive answer. I also can't find any law or ATF regulation regarding yellow hulls.

While I think it's a good idea, I wouldn't depend on just the color unless we can find a law or ATF regulation requiring ONLY 20ga to be yellow and no other color.

Even then, there could still be some old shells sitting around from the pre-color code era.

As mentioned already, check the label (and headstamp).

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
