When you hear an anti gun advocate say something like,
"we ought to be have a bipartisan, comprehensive conversation on how we keep our communities safer,"
what they mean by "conversation" is they talk about more useless gun legislation, and you just keep your mouth shut. We don't want to hear about making it easier for people to effectively defend themselves, not doing catch and release of violent criminals, or any other measures that might actually reduce gun violence.
And for years they've called us Republicans "gun nuts" and "Right Wing extremists" who pose a threat to our government and our way of life. In the wake of the "Not My President" wave which surged across the nation...Portland, Berkeley and so on...and the head bashing ANTIFA terrorists targeting peacefully assembling, law-abiding citizen-patriots...I'd love to ask Hillary who are the deplorables now?

If anything, it'll be harder than ever to convince the small group of Congresspersons who were there at the horrific scene. Surely, they must have learned at that very instant why being disarmed is the last thing any person needs these days.
Anyone notice what was missing from Trump's speech that was ALWAYS at the end of Obama's speeches? Obama always took the opportunity to push his gun control at the end of his speeches. He never let a good shooting go to waste regardless of the circumstances.

M-Quigley wrote:What in the heck is a police officer (or any defender really) doing screaming anything to an obvious active shooter with a rifle?
You fight how you train. If trained to deal with a suspect with a gun by starting with a demand to disarm that's what you'll do. I wasn't there, so I'm not going to criticize the actions of a VERY BRAVE SOUL who put herself in the line of fire to defend our own. I salute the wounded officer for her courage, even if we can later nitpick on the specifics of tactics and find lessons to learn from it.
I do also. My comment wasn't a personal criticism of her, only in what she did. I don't doubt that was the way she was trained, but if that's the case, then that training was wrong and is a disservice to her and any officers who might be in a similar situation someday.

Just glad they had a good guy with a gun there.
Watching the news an hour or so and there is no mention of anyone shooting back except for the Capital Police!
And?
Good guys with guns returned fire on bad guy with gun here. Or are the Police not good guys?
According to the MSM or anti gun groups, when they talk about someone stopping a mass shooting, a "good guy or gal with a gun" has to be a ordinary citizen, without any law enforcement background whatsoever. If the defender is a off duty or former cop, they don't count, it's meaningless to them in any discussion of whether or not lawful carry stops crime, including mass shootings. They claim to not be opposed to former or current cops carrying, because only they have the hundreds of hours of training and mindset to be able to defend themselves without massacring dozens of people in the process. Anyone else is a yahoo who, according to some anti gunners, is more of a danger to innocent people than a mass shooter.
"Did you NOT expect this? When you take away ordinary peoples very lives in order to pay off the wealthiest among us, your own lives are forfeit. Certainly, your souls and morality were lost long before. Good riddance,” the email said.
Tenney spokeswoman Hannah Andrews said their office regularly receives emails like this, but the timing of this message was "particularly disheartening following this morning's tragic events."
“This morning, our office received a disturbing message referencing the tragic shooting that wounded House Whip Rep. Steve Scalise, U.S. Capitol Police officers and a Congressional staff member," Andrews said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "Although our office receives threats like these regularly, today’s message was particularly disheartening following this morning’s tragic events."
"The level of discourse in politics today is truly unfortunate. Our nation was founded on the principle of free speech, and it’s vitally important that we have a robust debate on the issues. However, protections under the first amendment do not extend to violence," Andrews added.

They VASTLY prefer the CERTAINTY of DEATH by execution to the POSSIBILITY of accidental WOUNDING.
But honestly, when's the last time you saw an anti-gun cultist who had 1/100 the animosity towards mass murderers, jihadis, etc., that he did for LAWFUL gun owners?
Life comes at you fast. Be prepared to shoot it in the head when it does.
Rep. Scalise was critically injured and remains in critical condition. The other patient is in good condition.

1:56 PM — Facebook has removed Hodgkinson’s profile, seemingly confirming its legitimacy. Many observers noted that Hodgkinson shared a post criticizing Scalise in 2015.
Apparently the Rep was shot in the hip and had subsequent surgery....there's video of him being carted off on a bloody stretcher.

He has a history of gun violence, previously pointing one at a man during a family argument in 2006. He was once arrested for domestic battery and faced other charges for DUI, attempting to elude police and obstructing a police officer.
In 2006, he was arrested for punching a woman in the face. A separate incident, which was recorded in a police report obtained by The Daily Beast, says he also beat his underage daughter.
In that report, officers described how he was seen throwing her around a bedroom. When she tried to escape him, they said he pulled her hair. Another incident involved him cutting the girl's seat-belt with a knife.

Did the rifle sound different when pointed in a different direction or were there MANY more pistol rounds going off than rifle?
Or do I, somehow, have it backwards and the deeper reports the pistol shots?
I am assuming the first deep ones were rifle rounds.
