Apparently the Republican baseball team was practicing and a person asked if they were all Republicans and then opened fire with a rifle, wounding the congressman, aides and two police officers.

The gunman took cover behind a dugout and shot over 50 rounds.

Thus is a breaking story and more will be known later.

First the vandalism of the "Not My President" movement...then the ANTIFA attacks...and now this. When is the Democrat Party leadership going to say "Enough!!" and reign in it's fanatical constituency? If anyone thinks this particular guy was a lone, isolated kook...think again. There are probably more of these types out there. The Left accuses the Right of racism, xenophobia, homophobia etc. etc....yet AFAIK right-wing folks are generally well behaved.

"As we were standing here this morning, a gunman walked up to the fence line and just began to shoot. I was standing at home plate and he was in the third base line,” Bishop said. “He had a rifle that was clearly meant for the job of taking people out, multiple casualties, and he had several rounds and magazines that he kept unloading and reloading.”

The shooting went on for roughly 10 minutes, with some accounts putting the number of shots fired around 100. Four people were injured, including two Capitol Hill police officers and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, of Louisiana. The suspect was also shot.

“The only reason why any of us walked out of this thing, by the grace of God, one of the folks here had a weapon to fire back and give us a moment to find cover. We were inside the backstop and if we didn’t have that cover by a brave person who stood up and took a shot themselves, we would not have gotten out of there and every one of us would have been hit — every single one of us,” said Bishop. “He was coming around the fence line and he was looking for all of us who had found cover in different spots. But if we didn’t have return fire right there, he would have come up to each one of us and shot us point-blank.”

Remember when the Democrats were all up in arms about the Tea Party? Seems kind of quaint now that the political tables are turned.

Just glad they had a good guy with a gun there.

I just emailed this to friends@foxnews.com and newsmanager@foxnews.com
Guns save lives.
The Only thing that stops a man with a gun is another man with a gun.
"It took the police 3 minutes to respond to the Alexandria, Va shooting."
When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
911: government supported "Dial a prayer".

What have we learned here? More law abiding citizens NEED to take charge of their own (and loved ones/friends) safety.

Given that, at this early stage it appears to have been a Leftist type intentionally targeting Republican politicians...methinks the Liberal media will downplay that aspect and make it appear more like an attack on the government as a whole.

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL) described the scene at the Congressional baseball practice where House Majority Whip Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) was shot.

Brooks stated that the shooter was using a rifle, while members of the Congressional security details were firing handguns back at the shooter, and that there “must have been 50-100 shots fired.”

Here are a few messages that haven't aged well in light of today's events.

Either that, or they will try to use this as an example to push more gun control.

Some interesting quotes from the links in the OP
“My adrenaline is raging,” he told CNN. “It’s not easy to take when you see people around you being shot and you don’t have a weapon yourself.”
Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, told Fox News he "felt like I was in Iraq, but without my weapon."
“We were there within 3 minutes,” Brown said. “Two of our officers engaged in gunfire and returned fire.”
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Fox News: "We were like sitting ducks."
"Without the Capitol Hill police it would have been a massacre," Paul said, describing the scene as "sort of a killing field."
And then there's this quote from this link :(

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/pu ... 0d2f7ebd43" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Fillus said a police agent pulled out a gun and tried to shoot back. She was screaming, “ ‘Drop your weapon!’ And he shot her and she fell on the ground.
What in the heck is a police officer (or any defender really) doing screaming anything to an obvious active shooter with a rifle?

First order of business = best thoughts go out to the wounded victims. Me and mine are wishing them all speedy and full recoveries.

You fight how you train. If trained to deal with a suspect with a gun by starting with a demand to disarm that's what you'll do. I wasn't there, so I'm not going to criticize the actions of a VERY BRAVE SOUL who put herself in the line of fire to defend our own. I salute the wounded officer for her courage, even if we can later nitpick on the specifics of tactics and find lessons to learn from it.

Another proud Democrat "resister" in the fine tradition of:
  • John Wilkes Booth
  • Byron de la Beckwith
  • James Earl Ray
I've called the Democrat Party the party of:
  1. slavery
  2. secession
  3. Jim Crow
  4. the Klan
  5. lynching
  6. racial concentration camps
    Let me add:
  7. assassination
Life comes at you fast. Be prepared to shoot it in the head when it does.

Well, all of this is Trump's fault. If he were not president, this poor man would not have been forced to take action.
