No word on where the alleged dog currently is. Thankfully the dog bite victim wasn't hit.
DAYTON — A man who was attacked by a dog on Dow Street on Tuesday said a vehicle traveling on Dow Street fired shots at the animal in attempt to get the canine off him, according to city police documents.

Dayton police were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. for a report of shots fired.
Emergency dispatchers received two calls, according to a city police information report. One caller, around 8:44 p.m., reported hearing three to four shots fired, and hearing a man screaming in the alley before a car sped off. Another caller, around the same time, reported hearing five shots fired and a man yelling. The caller reported the man was still yelling.
When police arrived on the scene, a male victim was holding his arm. He was surrounded by a crowd.

Members of the crowd told officers they didn’t see anything, but reported they found the victim on the ground in a driveway in the 800 block of Dow Street.
The victim told police he was walking his dogs on Dow Street toward Superior Avenue when a gray “mutt” came out from the alley and attacked his dogs.
The victim told police he tried to break up the dog fight.
“He was able to separate the dogs which caused it to attack him,” wrote Dayton Police Officer Alexander Dole.

The victim said he was screaming for help when a vehicle traveling down Dow Street fired several shots at the dog, according to police.
The dog continued to bite the victim on the arms.
“Officer Dole observed several marks on both forearms that appeared to be caused by a dog,” Dole wrote.
Medics transported the victim to Good Samaritan Hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
Officers attempted to locate the dog or its owner.
“(The victim) advised he did not want to pursue anything because he knew the dog was taken care of and was safe,” Dole wrote.

This story smells more than a dead skunk in the middle of the road in the middle of July.

Great, how you've got that 70's era song stuck in my head. Thanks.
