Giffords laments CA Gun control laws are insufficient.

Post by Bruenor »

I would also like some hard data that shows "The smart gun laws we know save lives", cause I really doubt that is true.

Gun control proponent Gabby Giffords responded to the April 10 alleged murder-suicide at North Park Elementary in California by lamenting current levels of gun control and wishing more could be passed.
California is a state with universal background checks, gun registration laws, an “assault weapons” ban, a 10-day waiting period on gun purchases, gun confiscation laws based on mental health records, Gun Violence Restraining Orders, a ban on “high-capacity” magazines, a “good cause” requirement for issuance of concealed carry permits, and myriad other gun controls.
It’s time that all Americans have the courage to truly fight this crisis by standing up and demanding the smart gun laws we know save lives.”

I don't mean to trivialize someone's unnecessarily early death...but these antis irk me with their inability to do the math. There's 50 states with almost 320 million people moving about in them 24x7. That's 320 million people who DIDN'T get shot today, this week, this month, this year. The antis fail to consider this simple fact...they take just one isolated and outrageous incident and translate it into "we have to do something now"...and..."if we can save just one life". I wish every single politician, and every single anti-gun type would be forced to take a course on...and write a paper on the "Fallacy of Composition".

It makes sense that someone who is willing to murder and commit suicide inside a CPZ would be dissuaded by yet another gun violation.

True, but my POV is a bit more simple and brutal. Stuff happens. People have been killing each other since the days of spear chucking, and it will go on far into the future. Get over it. The Dems think they can remedy every malady in society by passing yet one more new law.

Their idea of common sense gun laws is 100% ban and confiscation.
As if that makes violence and murder magically disappear; because before the invention of the gun people were unable to kill each other.

Unfortunately many people don't or simply refuse to understand it.
Learn how Project Appleseed is supporting freedom through Marksmanship and Heritage clinics.
Samuel Adams wrote:If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

And that relates to schools and teacher unions - look at the current generation of snowflakes in college. Indoctrination begins early in most children's lives.
