Vault 7: CIA Hacking Tools Revealed. Wikileaks

Post by JU-87 »

Here is proof that your Samsung "smart TV" can be used, illegally, to listen to your conversations. This is the biggest violation of the 4th Amendment ever!

Fourth amendment to the US Constitution:"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,[a] against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Vault 7: CIA Hacking Tools Revealed
Today, Tuesday 7 March 2017, WikiLeaks begins its new series of leaks on the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Code-named "Vault 7" by WikiLeaks, it is the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.

The first full part of the series, "Year Zero", comprises 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network situated inside the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence in Langley, Virgina. It follows an introductory disclosure last month of CIA targeting French political parties and candidates in the lead up to the 2012 presidential election.

Recently, the CIA lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized "zero day" exploits, malware remote control systems and associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to more than several hundred million lines of code, gives its possessor the entire hacking capacity of the CIA. The archive appears to have been circulated among former U.S. government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive...

The increasing sophistication of surveillance techniques has drawn comparisons with George Orwell's 1984, but "Weeping Angel", developed by the CIA's Embedded Devices Branch (EDB), which infests smart TVs, transforming them into covert microphones, is surely its most emblematic realization.

The attack against Samsung smart TVs was developed in cooperation with the United Kingdom's MI5/BTSS. After infestation, Weeping Angel places the target TV in a 'Fake-Off' mode, so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on. In 'Fake-Off' mode the TV operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the Internet to a covert CIA server.

As of October 2014 the CIA was also looking at infecting the vehicle control systems used by modern cars and trucks.

That material that they released is supposed to be only 1% of what they actually have.

And people say I'm paranoid for encrypting my entire external network traffic and every last bit stored on my computers/servers/phone and disconnecting all these "too-smart devices."
Good luck and stand fast, true Patriots.

If the NSA wants you, that won't really help much.

My TV is kind of old, but it still works just fine. If and when it goes bad, is it possible to buy a TV that isn't a "smart TV"? Don't they make a plain old fashioned TV anymore?

Any Smart TV is dumb without connecting it to the internet.

The key words are "can be used." It's not a violation of the Constitution to spy on foreigners in a foreign country. According to the former head of the CIA who was recently on "The Late Show", he assured everyone that the CIA only uses those techniques to spy on foreign terrorists, and doesn't spy within the United States on American Citizens. Now doesn't that make you feel better?

My dog wears a GPS collar that reports her location using unencrypted 3G networks. Perhaps the NSA will help me find her if she ever gets lost.
