Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree at Salt Lake grocery st

Post by gilly32 »

Almost suprised this made it in the news....
Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness.

"The right to keep and bear arms is rooted in both self-defense and insurance against government’s propensity toward tyranny. The right pre-existed the Constitution. Thus, the Second Amendment is not its source. The right to keep and bear arms is natural and inalienable; the Second Amendment protects it, and Congress has no legitimate power to restrict it." - Senator John Cornyn (R., Tex.), as reported in the National Review on July 4, 2016

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon.
I wonder how you turn a knife into a weapon. HHhmmm...

Seriously though, someone should get that good citizen a medal. Or at least he should get a nice gift card from the store.

Keep an eye on the story for a couple weeks and see if the story gets updated to "Citizen apprehends knife wielding man" with all mention of a firearm gone..

That's when a 47-year-old man, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, took action.

"(The bystander) was suspicious of what might be going on, and when he saw the stabbing, he just drew his pistol and challenged the individual," (Salt Lake Police Lt. Brian Purvis) said.

At least one story reports that he's a South Korean national. I'm assuming that means he's not a citizen. So we have a non-citizen with repeated, violent run-ins with the law that only seem to be getting worse and we haven't put him on a westbound plane yet? This whole thing could have been avoided if he'd been deported after his first jail stint.

Clearly he has a medical condition. As a taxpayer I don't feel like paying to treat it for the rest of his life when he's found to be insane and institutionalized. We've got enough insane natives as it is

Sarcasm aside (and I agree with you guys), I gotta give credit to the reporters for saying it correctly. The knife really wasn't a weapon until it was used as such, and I'm glad they recognize it in this instance, if no other.
