3 year old shoots himself

TACOMA, Wash. -- A mother who authorities say left her 3-year-old son unrestrained in a car after she placed a pistol under the driver's seat has been charged with manslaughter in the death of the boy, who shot himself in the head while the woman went to get food.

The woman's boyfriend, who is the gun's owner, was also charged.
Vita, who has a concealed weapons permit, removed his gun from his waistband to avoid alarming the clerk and placed it under the passenger seat, the prosecutor said.
Didn't see this one posted yet. Sad the child lost his life because these adults didn't have common sense. Another blemish for concealed carry :cry:

Tragic and we should do everything within our power to stop such. I am in no way demeaning gun accidents.
Gun Accidents (and Kids & Gun Accidents)
The reality does not correspond to the perception created by media coverage. Fatal gun accidents declined by almost sixty percent from 1975 to 1995, even though the number of guns per capita increased by almost forty percent.

Fatal gun accidents involving children (aged 0-14) also fell significantly, from 495 in 1975, to under 250 in 1995. More children die from accidental drownings or burns than from gun accidents.
(Gun supply statistics are from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, gun accident rates from the National Safety Council).

Automobile = 43,000
Falls = 16,200
Poisoning by solids, liquids = 11,700
Pedestrian1 = 5,300
Drowning = 3,900
Fires, burns = 3,600
Suffocation by ingested object = 3,400

Firearms = 600

Poisoning by gases, vapors = 400
All other causes = 14,500
TOTAL = 97,300
Firearms account for 0.006 of the total accidents. Or 6/100ths of a percent.

But the news even gets better.
Firearm-Related Fatalities at Record Lows; --Accidents Among Youths Down Significantly
The National Safety Council's new report shows that accidental firearm-related fatalities remain at record lows, and accidents involving youths continue to decline significantly. Downward trends, also being reported by other sources, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are occurring even as firearm ownership rises in the U.S.
CDC reports a significant decline in accidental firearms-related fatalities in the U.S. between 1994 and 2005.
Meanwhile the gun supply has been rising astronomically. There were an estimated 250 million firearms in citizens hands before the background checks were implemented. Note the amount of NICS checks since its inception. In approximately 10 years. Total NICS Background Checks Nov 1998 to Feb 2012
Total = 144,009,603

We must do everything we can to stop as many gun accidents as possible, just as we MUST acknowledge that we need to do a better job in all of these other areas too.

I am however, jaded enough to ask the question if the Huff Po has any articles about all of these other Child tragedies? All too often the Left ONLY counts the children killed by guns like those are the only ones that matter. I say they all matter!

Don't understand why he didn't take the gun along into the store/gas station. Perhaps he wan't dressed so that he could conceal it?
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!
