Crimean School shooting 17 dead 40 injured - Shotgun

Post by Bruenor »

CCTV Image makes it look like a Pistol grip pump shotgun. :(

A student killed eighteen people and injured at least 40 in a gun rampage at his school in Crimea today.

Vladislav Roslyakov, 18, stalked his college halls with a rifle, shooting 17 dead and then killing himself in the school library.

It is thought the teenager, who reportedly obtained his gun with a hunting licence, also set off a homemade nail-bomb in the canteen which blew out the windows but did not kill anyone.
Says none killed by bomb, doesn't say none injured by bomb.

Thoughts and prayers to those affected.

Just spent an hour talking to one of the largest schools in Ohio about FASTER Saves Lives and then see this.

I truly hope we never experience someone who knows what they are doing in one of these events.

I'm kinda curious about the 'parents' suing the Madison Local school district to prevent them from arming their teachers.. Everytown for gun 'safety' has their fingers in that lawsuit as well.

Ohio law permits school boards to decide whether to allow teachers and other staff to go armed into school buildings.
But, the suit notes, Ohio law does not leave that discretion unbounded.
Those opposed to arming teachers say the security programs put in place after the 2016 shooting are enough without adding more guns to the mix.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones disagrees with the lawsuit and is in favor of arming teachers.
Boggles the mind. No I don't want you to use every resource at your fingertips to protect our kids.. instead spend school funds fighting this lawsuit brought by the parents and funded by Bloomberg.
I foresee a new school levy in their future.

Regarding the Ohio lawsuit, from the link:
Ohio law permits school boards to decide whether to allow teachers and other staff to go armed into school buildings.

But, the suit notes, Ohio law does not leave that discretion unbounded. Ohio law requires a school employee that goes ‘armed while on duty’ to have first completed a ‘basic peace officer training’ program or have 20 years experience serving as a peace officer. That training is over 700 hours. And that makes sense: if employees are going to be carrying firearms in close proximity to children at school, the Ohio Legislature has mandated that they be well-trained."
No, it doesn't make sense, because that 700 hours is not all firearms training, and the teachers aren't going out on the street and arresting people or investigating crimes, etc. Regardless of that, does the law actually require teachers to complete a basic peace officer training’ program to essentially do nothing more than defend their own lives or the lives of their students when someone is shooting at them?

Regarding the OP:
The shooter who is thought to have obtained shotguns and rifles with a hunting licence for which he passed a psychological assessment
You occasionally hear or read anti gunners who want gun owners or ccw license holders to have to pass a so called "psychological assessment" Apparently it doesn't work.
