“I’m talking about a gun now known as the AR-15, a weapon designed for wartime, but one that has somehow morphed into one of the most popular pieces of so-called sports equipment,” Gumbel says in his intro with clear disdain. “Under that guise, millions of AR-15s have been sold in recent years, primarily for people who claim to want them to hunt or compete in target shooting. But AR-15s have also played an ugly role in the mass shootings that have become all too commonplace throughout this country.”
The report, he says, will expose “how America’s gun industry has marketed its deadliest product.”
Doesn't that sound like the argument in a certain court case against a firearms manufacturer ??
Sullivan claims in his interview that the bullet the AR-15 fires is somehow uniquely deadly — that it causes such catastrophic wounds that hits “almost anywhere” were fatal.
“It’s more lethal than any cartridge that was fired by any army in history,” Sullivan says.
Diving into the mud, the “Real Sports” segment takes a swipe at the growing popularity of shooting sports like three-gun, two-gun, and other multi-gun sports that favor the AR-15 and its variants, by dismissing them as a fringe outliers concocted by a gun industry to justify its lethal wares.
So when did you stop beating your wife ?
Scott asks the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Larry Keane whether it’s “appropriate” to market the AR to kids.
"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. . . Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."

Nope. The MSM and the Obama Anti-Gun Crusade are responsible for driving up sales of the AR in particular...and firearms/ammo in general.

They've never heard of a Minie Ball, or a .45-70 Government.
Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric, two way-back has beens attempting to regain some of their faded journalistic glory by scribbling some liberal junk about a selected controversial gun subject.(America's rifle no less.)

Why do I give two hoots in hell about either one of those knuckleheads?
You and I don't, but the sheeple do, and the sheeple will remember the EBR when it comes time to vote for legislation and/ or politicians who want to ban them.

Or the .30-06. Heck, .22 caliber bullets kill more people than the AR15 as far as homocides in the US if I remember my stats correctly.
God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can
and the Wisdom to know the difference.
Saw a news item - the local rag, I think, which called the AR-15 one of the most powerful and deadly rounds out there, or words to that effect.
AARGH....
Saw one in the local rag last weekend. Talking about Police scanners being complex and expensive for new trunking and similar systems, including APCO25.
They showed a picture of a $300-is HAM portable showing a HAM band setting in the Two Meter HAM band. The only connection is that some of these radios can be programmed (some with a little hardware hacking) to listen to older-style Law Enforcement systems, NOT the current "new" verions....
The Township PD went APCO25 a couple years back, and after suffering for a while (long story - the Reader's Digest version that I've been monitoring them for over 40 years), and I bought one radio, finally. It didn't work particularly well. So, I got a newer one for serious bucks. Then the PD went to a "scrambled" version of APCO25, and all I can hear now is the Fire Department. Somehow, I don't think that'll last....
The individual who wrote the article was all kinds of positive about the upgrade.... I don't know if they're using scanners for news and haven't noticed....
Wonder if they'll ever sort that one out....
My point, if any, is that the news media just don't know, and will treat as gospel just about any source that sounds reliable. Like Toby Hoover....
Regards,
Stu.
