Have to chuckle on Bloomy being scooped on the Facebook page.. Everytown, appears to be trying to get people to register a page for every state and city, to scoop the initiative with a real grassroots movement, that is really about gun safety.

Everytown for gun safety

I would like to thank everyone for the support thus far. All of you that created separate state, city and county pages are the reason we will succeed! This is a REAL grassroots movement!

Yesterday there was one and today there are scores of Facebook pages dubbed “Everytown for Gun Safety” for several states and even local communities; the work of gun rights activists waging guerrilla warfare against billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s $50 million launch yesterday of a new gun control lobbying effort with the same name.
All of the Facebook pages have one thing in common. They all promote gun safety, including links to such things as the National Rifle Association’s “Eddie Eagle” program and the three key gun safety golden rules:
At last count, there were individual Facebook pages for EGS chapters in Illinois, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and South Carolina, and those are just examples. A quick glance also shows separate pages for EGS chapters in Washington, Texas, California, Florida and most other states as well.

When alerted to the presence of the page, a representative at Everytown for Gun Safety said that it wouldn’t be long before it disappeared from Facebook.
“Maybe they’d like to duel for it,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of Everytown for Gun Safety. “I hear every person on our staff of 85 is a better shot than Wayne LaPierre. Or maybe a bidding war!”
We’re going through the proper process for transitioning our Demand Action page to ‘Everytown,’ which takes a few weeks, and acquiring trademark protection for both Everytown and Everytown for Gun Safety. Once that happens, we expect Facebook to shoo these cybersquattters politely off this name/page.”
Since when do grassroots groups acquire trademark protection for their campaigns.
