Firearms disability
My name is joe
I am looking for answers to a question.
I gad my ccw but it was revoked when I was convicted of a 5th degree felony 2 years ago. I understand that 3 years must pass from end of punishment before I can get the record expunged in order to reapply for my ccw. But if I am correct in reading since my conviction was non violent non drug and non gun related and was not punishable by more than 1 year inprisonment I should not fall under firearm disability. I have talked to attorneys, attorney general office, nra, atf.... and I cant fet a straight answer. Also does anyone have a generic relief from disability motion ?
Thank you for any help.

Re: Firearms disability
I see it is your first post, Joe, so WELCOME.
Depends what the conviction was. Can you provide the exact statute you were convicted under? Then we may be able to help.

Looks fine.
Go re-apply.
If sheriff says you can't, tell him to process you anyway.

looks fine as far as purchasing and owning because it specifies crime with punishment greater than one year as for regaining my CCW I must have that expunged for sure because Ohio CCW laws States any felony

Who know's WHAT goes on inside pirateguy's head.2007roadking wrote:What does that mean?
You did want an answer to a question that you then answered yourself.
But he's probably laughing at me for telling you to go re-apply for your CHL.
Don't do that.
Also, please don't commit any more crimes.

Re: Firearms disability
I just posted the below links in another thread on a similar topic. These are two resources that may assist you in applying for relief. The first does contain some template motions. Both explain the process and requirements fairly well.2007roadking wrote:Also does anyone have a generic relief from disability motion ?
