Greetings from Dayton

Post by Deafninja »

Just saying hello from Dayton, OH. Total noob to the shooting world, just purchased my first handgun (SA XDm 3.8 9mm) about a month ago and have been consistently going to shooting range and classes. Going for CCW this coming May.

Thank you for the welcome!:)

Yes the "deaf" part is literal. I am deaf (severe profound hearing loss) since childhood. Wear hearing aid, which helps me hear about 70%, so interact with hearing world 100%.

This does bring about challenges on the range, hearing range commands and instructor, however the guys at Sim-Trainer have been great in accommodating me!

Sim-Trainer, huh? How are they? I've been curious enough about them to investigate joining, but their range hours are kind of a deterrent. They do offer a great range of classes, though.

Sim-Trainer is great. Yes the hours are a bit on the negative side, wished they had better hours, but the staff, price, location, facilities, knowledge and class offerings make up for it IMO.

I have also looked into Miamisburg sportsman club, (have a friend that is a member and you have to be sponsored to join) they have both indoor and outdoor and great hours. Their pricing is decent but it's a bit of a drive.

The vandalia range, I was put off by their pricing and distance.

Vandalia Armory? Yeah their prices are friggin' ridiculous. Anyways, welcome!
