Stand Your Ground, Red Flag Law Both On Table For 2019

Post by rickt »

Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) said he's open to discussing two high-profile gun laws when the General Assembly returns next year, the "Stand Your Ground" bill and the "red flag law."

Not enough senate support to pass STG.
Bill Coley (R-West Chester), who chaired the committee that stripped the "Stand Your Ground" language, seemed to suggest that the provision did not have enough votes to pass the chamber or for a successful veto override.
Governor-elect Mike DeWine has said he supports "Stand Your Ground" and he would possibly sign a "red flag law" under certain conditions.

Nope.
Can't serve two masters.
Must communicate that we will run them out on a rail if they put Red Flag on any floor vote.

How do we "run them out on a rail"? I'm aware of the original, literal meaning of that phrase, but it hasn't been done successfully in a long time.

Did you mean a petition driven recall? Or, just try to vote them out in the next election cycle.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

OFCC will be siting down with legislators early next year (within the first two weeks) to discuss legislation for the next General Assembly. Chuck put a question out on the forum as to what people want and we are we are watching that to see what the membership desires are. Please make your thoughts known in that thread.

So they will but both in a bill and remove the stand your ground at the last minute. Then anyone who admits to listening to Rush Limbaugh to a liberal will have all of their guns taken away, after-which, of course, they have already gotten all of the long guns that do not fit an extreme definition of a sporting purpose.
