The only group missing in this event that I'm aware of is BFA, of which two things:

One: If anyone knows how to get them involved in an event like this, please, take action. They were made aware of this event and have not responded, much less offered their support.

Two: I hesitate to call them an Ohio firearm rights advocacy group these days. They don't seem to be doing anything more than raising money though raffles, running the FASTER program, and posting on social media. They've been ignoring their members for quite some time, and now their forums have been "down for maintenance" for over two weeks. They've fought *against* the interests of Ohio gun owners in the legislation they've recently supported and opposed, and have endorsed an candidate in the Republican primary for Governor who is *at best* characterized as not being pro-gun rights.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.
That's my take as well. Trouble is, BFA likely has the biggest "name recognition" at the Statehouse, and among the media in many parts of Ohio. When AM talk radio down here wants a "gun rights guy" on-air, it always seems to be my old pal Joe Eaton from BFA.A few of the show hosts are only aware of OFCC because I've sought them out at station events and chatted "us" up.

Hope it's a great turnout today. Wish I could be there, but a good friend of mine with no local family is in the ICU, Going to spend time tending to his house, bills, etc. this weekend.

FYI it's all over the news, DoJ just announced they are moving forward w/ bump stock ban and therefore, potentially any & all other so-called acceleration devices which is the bigger prize

Food for comment @ Rally perhaps?

I M back to work have fun in the sun!

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.
Lately I thought of another Ohio-based gun group we should try to get on board next time: The Ohio Gun Collectors Association. Unfortunately their every other month show is being held near Wilmington this weekend. Back when they used Veterans Hall in Columbus, Congress was working on a bill to outlaw foreign made semiautomatic firearms. About. 10,000 of us left the show and marched over to the Statehouse to express our displeasure.

If the next rally in Columbus is held in April on Patriots Day weekend, let's try to get OGCA members to bolster our ranks. If there's still an Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association these days ( statewide shooting competition group), they should be dialed in too.

Consider this your early notice that there will be a thread this week in the Events section announcing a Patriots Day rally on April 21.
Working on the details now

May I suggest the New Events feature should be on the OFCC Main page, not merely on Facebook? I don't have a Facebook account because of security concerns. I do plan to attend the April 21 event, and I would have attended the event on the 10th, but didn't know about it.

When you log into the forums, if you click "View new posts" above the sub forums, you will see every topic that has had a new post since you last visited the forums. It's much easier to keep up with things that way, without having to go to each sub forum and search for them. If you log in every day or two, like I do, the list is usually only one page long, and you don't have to view the posts you don't want to.

You are correct, of course; marketing is not our strong suit at the moment.
I, personally, am very guilty of not posting on the forums like I should and for that I apologize.
I often get all wrapped up in Facebook and waste all my free time.
One reason I don't post so much anymore, (other than answer questions) is that I don't think I am much of a writer and sound like I am blowing my own horn too much.
So I tend to sit back and not pontificate as much as I used to.
I've had the write up for this event done for two days and haven't posted it anywhere yet because I don't like the way it sounds

I will try harder in the future

It was mentioned in this thread on March 8 that the organizers, Ohio Carry gave late notice. Ohio Carry threw this event together as soon as we heard about SB260.

The date the event page was put up on Facebook was February 24. I personally had already contacted coordinators from this group, and one of the gentleman helping with the event had contacted BFA. We apologize if this was any inconvenience to anyone. But we were getting phone calls asking what we were going to do to help stop that bill. We felt we had to do something.

Carolyn, it was short notice but I won't fault anybody for that. My experience is, you could give everybody six months notice, and the mouthy online "coulda woulda shoulda" segment will find a way to not attend.
