I think Mary Taylor is the only gubernatorial candidate who is not calling for a ban, either party

Even the most rabid anti-gunner would probably shy away from this. Of course, I could be wrong...
You would be wrong. I have a relative that would love to see all guns banned, even revolvers. She doesn't even like the idea of police being armed either, but she's willing to tolerate that until the day all guns are taken away from civilians, and then they go unarmed too, just like merry old England. Of course she won't move there though, because apparently socialized England doesn't pay certain occupations very well.

I wonder if NFA items like machine guns would be exempt from such a ban.

I have a Greek quote for them should they pass it.

The Rules and Reference Committee assigns bills to committees. Its next meeting isn't until 2/27.

The wording immediately hits automatic weapons, semi autos are the last thing mentioned.

Ironically, they've referred later numbered bills to committee.

I'm not sure of the behind the scenes but my guess is that this was some sort of dig at the fools who wrote the bill. Might not seem like a big deal to you and me but to have senate leadership pass over even referring your bill for a week is probably a grave insult to those walking the marbled halls of the statehouse. And ya know what? I'm totally cool with such insults being dished out to these genuine enemies of liberty.

Cut to Kasich rubbing his hands together with a smarmy grin on his face...

Good to have a point of reference to discuss between candidates.

Not as currently written. Bold is my emphasis:
(D) As used in this section, "assault weapon" means an
automatic firearm that has not been rendered permanently
inoperable
, a semi-automatic firearm capable of accepting a
detachable magazine with the capacity to accept ten or more
cartridges, and a semi-automatic firearm with a fixed magazine
with the capacity to accept ten or more cartridges.

I just wrote my district's Senator. I'm tempted to write "you should be ashamed of yourselves" letters to the authors and sponsors of the bill, but I feel that'd probably be fruitless.

Wondering if they are putting this into the legislature so they can later introduce it as a ballot initiative.

Looks like SB260 finally got sent to a Senate committee -- Government Oversight and Reform. Let's hope it dies a quiet natural death . . .
