It's time to realize that broad sweeping reforms on conservative issues will NOT happen overnight or as fast as you want. The left has been incredibly good as slowly chipping away at our rights over the last near century. Conservatives have been terrible at countering in the same manner. Have patience and keep winning small battles. Begin to normalize the political spectrum so a change to constitutional carry isn't a major swing to the right and a simple step.

You hit that nail directly on the head
Because if you want 2A reform, it isn't always going to be about you. The goal should be to chip away every opportunity we can at the left's influence. If you're waiting for broad sweeping reform, you won't see anything happen and while you're jumping up and down complaining about it, liberal politicians will be slowly pushing the country a little more left.

I can see many sheriff's offices reducing application office hours to a few hours a month if that was to happened. It was worth the $62.00 for me to make a appointment on line 2 days out, have a street level office to go to (instead of waiting for the elevator to take up and down), have numerous employees working in the office, be in and out in less than that 15 minutes, and then get a text 4 hours and 5 later that my permit was ready to be picked up. I wished the BMV operated like that!!

To be fair, mine does. I don't think I've ever waited more than ten minutes whether getting plates, transferring a title, or renewing my DL.

Can't disagree with point 1).

Points 2) and 3) seem to contradict one another. If Conservatives have been terrible at the small battle game, why encourage that path? (Football Analogy: When do you take a shot at the endzone? Who wins if we stay near the 50 yard line? )

What's been "normalized" (point 4)) is a system where the citizen has a billion hoops to jump through and spends more time considering how he can avoid jail as opposed to training against the lawless (insert redundancy joke here).

Do we really not see why there's a bill to pander to Vets? They've pandered to hunters and collectors in the past, giving them just a little bit more of the battlefield than the common citizen IN ORDER TO PACIFY the indignant outrage and political pressure that comes from unconstitutional "laws". This is how they achieve point 2) so well: Yes, the Swamp picks off little voting blocks via identity politics, chipping away at the populace, helping them accept the "new normal" of totalitarian rule in contrast to them standing firm for our (ToS forbidden, go see Roy Moore) Given Rights. You better get yours....

Oh, wait. We don't like that tactic? But we're going to pretend that we're wiser than the serpent by using his method against him? (THAT doesn't sound at all like pride, does it?) Ok, wise guy. How do you plan to pick off various disparate groups of antis and make them accept the principles of RKBA/Self-defense? I'm all ears. Because if you're stuttering or saying "duh" right about now, it's not a plan that achieves victory in the end. What do you have to give that will pacify those who stand against us, the way the SWAMP gives the various groups of mundanes a little taste of sugar to help the medicine go down? What do you have that you're going to further give up? Enlighten me.

It takes the heat off of a Statehouse who is cherry red, but can't satisfy the base with their half measures after a decade plus of stringing us along. They divide us by saying that Judges and Cops get special gun rights, but not Teachers or church visitors. And the beat goes on...victory being no closer than a decade or so away, cuz, society just isn't ready yet... (we can't pick off the disparate groups of antis, the way the SWAMP picks us off and makes us think we can play their game better than they can....but if you've got a better plan than the one we've been running for the last decade plus...let's hear it, and why aren't we doing it?)

Should we advise your daughter to stay with a lout who won't commit and put a ring on it? How many of her fertile days shall she surrender to him? I think I know that answer. Strike the question, your honor.

More "sucking up" to Veterans.
Like they are somehow better than people who never enlisted/ where Drafted.
As a honorably discharged Veteran, I will protest this law by paying the same amount everyone else does.

What a waste.

Just a reminder that one provision of this bill applies to everyone. Once the bill becomes law, a CHL is free to renew his/her license at any time. No more waiting for the ninety days before expiration.

Morne made his statement above 14 months ago. Navy Chief, you replied about four months later.

Flash to now, ten months more, very slow legislative speed is still the norm. OFCC needs a benevolent billionaire to back our play. Or a full time lobbyist who lives across the street from the Statehouse. Or both. Or some good blackmail photos. Or some combination of the above.

Kasich announced he will not sign the bill but will allow it to become law without his signature.
The governor will not put his signature on Senate Bill 81, letting it become law according to Article II, Section 16 of the Ohio Constitution on Monday, August 6, 2018, when it will be filed with the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.

S.B. 81 (Terhar) waives the concealed carry license fee for active members of the armed forces and retired and honorably discharged veterans, accepts military experience with firearms as proof of competency with firearms regardless of when the applicant for a license acquired the experience, permits a licensee to renew a concealed handgun license at any time before the expiration of the license, and requires the Attorney General to monitor the number of license fees waived and cap the total amount allowed to be waived at $1.5 million.

Statement from Governor’s Press Secretary Jon Keeling:

“Earlier this year a bipartisan coalition of state leaders from both sides of the gun issue—including former legislators—came together to develop a consensus package of sensible reforms to reduce gun violence in Ohio. Those reforms were recommended to the General Assembly where they were introduced and had hearings in both the House and Senate. The governor supported the reforms, worked with the General Assembly to find common ground and waited patiently for the legislative process to work, but in the end politics won the day and no action was taken. The governor is a strong Second Amendment supporter who has signed significant measures protecting this important individual right. He also values the military service of Ohioans, active duty and veterans, who would benefit from provisions in Senate Bill 81. But while this legislation has merit and the governor’s support, he believes that the next piece of gun-related legislation that he signs needs to be the package of common sense reforms that has been introduced and which will provide valuable tools to reduce gun violence. Therefore, the governor will not put his signature on Senate Bill 81, letting it go into law according to Article II, Section 16 of the Ohio Constitution. Instead he will continue to work with and call on the General Assembly to put common sense and the lives of Ohioans—especially young people—ahead of politics and pass legislation to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.”
