Maybe DeWine needs to be contacting the BATFE

Post by rickt »

The BATFE recently announced that Alabama licensees qualify for the NICS exemption. Here is the key point:
This major regulatory change is the direct result of Attorney General Luther Strange’s tireless efforts on behalf of law-abiding permit holders in Alabama. Attorney General Strange initiated the lengthy process of formally requesting NICS exemption (sometimes referred to as “NICS alternative”) status in a letter dated September 28, 2015.

Here is the BATFE list of states that qualify. Notice that this list was just reviewed by the BATFE on February 24, 2016.

I would be extremely surprised if Jon hasn't been working on this for some time now.

California has an "ENTERTAINMENT FIREARM PERMIT... exception?

What is THAT? Self defense with a little soft shoe on the side?
Unarmed people are vulnerable people, and criminal predators prey upon them.

Just looked this up; you sure you want to know?

Apparently a permit is needed by anyone handling a firearm (as a prop) during the production of a movie, TV show, etc. Didn't read the details any farther as to whether there's a background check, fee, how long it takes to get, etc.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

So, even if it is pure prop it needs a permit? Or if they are using a real firearm as a prop?

What I read stated "firearm". Got the feeling that Cali law was referring to real ones not toys. But then by their definition a black powder, cap and ball rifle/revolver has been considered a "firearm" for many years now.

Kinda why I asked. Cali isn't exactly the paragon of logic and sanity.

Wow... Just another example of the rectal cranial inversion that has infected 90% of Californians...There's not enough money in the world to get me to move there, or even visit as far as that goes.
"Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home
Let me die in a pile of empty brass."
Amen
