Our Governor or AG? I'm not overly confident in either of them but it seems like Ohios AG has been making progress.

At least the AG has been in Columbus doing the job he's paid for.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

The AG has been surprisingly better than I expected. Our Governor has been disappointingly worse.walnut red wrote:Our Governor or AG? I'm not overly confident in either of them but it seems like Ohios AG has been making progress.

I didn't "Not Like" our governor when he first came to power. He at least seemed to comprehend and embrace some fiscal conservative principals. Then he went down the path of socialism in my opinion when he started the tax on fracking and drilling in the Eastern part of the State. As a presidential candidate in the debates, I almost vomited every time he spoke. Good grief....what a pussy cat.

I don't pretend to know all the behind the scenes machinations that take place between the executive and legislature, to be fair, what can the governor do other than sign those bills that are presented to him? On that front he's done quite a lot over his tenure. If the general assembly dithers around and only sends him gun bills at the end of December in even numbered years how is that the governor's fault?
It's easy to say the AG is doing more but that's because he has statutory obligations to fulfill year round, and on the whole I think he's doing them well. Strictly speaking the governor's responsibilities are constitutional and he has carried them out favorably (towards us) whenever the opportunity has presented itself.

Both have been friendly to us in their respective roles.
God,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can
and the Wisdom to know the difference.
Carrying a gun is a right, not a crime.
Gun control is racist.

I obviously do not understand state government as well as many of you. However I would have thought the Governor would have provided some leadership or at least suggestions regarding legislation. IF RTKBA was actually a concern of his.

I don't think any pro gun bills would have reached his desk had he not wanted to.

When a Governor wants legislation for a particular item, most of the time they can get want they want.
I had hoped that our current one would push for more pro-2A items.

Can anyone name a single Ohio governor that has pushed for pro-gun legislation?

As the late great Tweed Ring often pointed out, we are woefully lacking in the green money contributing department. Ohio is a purple state and pols in statewide office do assume some risk when they support our cause. Money seems to mitigate that risk somewhat.

In what way is Ohio "a purple state"? Is it because 49 of 152 seats are blue?
Out comes the pouty face until we own an 80% supermajority?

Well, he's still got three more years to go as our Governor ...... let's see what happens.charliej47 wrote: When a Governor wants legislation for a particular item, most of the time they can get want they want.

The AG does things at the behest of the Guber AND the General Assembly, but can't do much on his own if his duties aren't already spelled out.
The Guber is the Chief Executive of the state and exerts control over all departments of the state. He can do things like this:
Ohio National Guard removes Gun Free Zones.

Add to that list that Ohio has voted for a (D) presidential candidate in the last two elections, with a (D) winning 4 of the last 6.bignflnut wrote:Ohio Senate 23-10 R
