That is, indeed, a good simple explanation. But let me put an even sharper point on it. Am.Sub.H.B. 203 proposes to expand Ohio firearm disabilities by adding the proposed R.C. 2923.13(A)(5): "It would be unlawful under 18 U.S.C. 922(g) or any other federal law for the person to possess a firearm or dangerous ordnance." However, the bill does not propose to change the introductory language of R.C. 2923.13(A), which states: "Unless relieved from disability as provided in section 2923.14 of the Revised Code ..." Therefore, not only does the bill fail to include the federal exceptions to the definition of “crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year” under 18 U.S.C. §921(a)(20), but it also retains the "relief from disability" process under R.C. 2923.14 as the sole remedy for removal of a firearm disability under Ohio law.Chuck wrote:That well putmrbone wrote:It sounds like federal law allows states to legislate ways to restore stolen rights but does not define them at the federal level. So the problem is that synching state law with federal law means we lose those state-defined additions that aren't defined in federal law but are honored by federal law? If so then I get it and agree that's not good.
I've been looking for a simple explanation
Thank you,,,,

When prosecutors and defense attorneys both agree a piece of legislation is bad...
Total repeal of ALL firearms/weapons laws at the local, state and federal levels. Period. Wipe the slate clean.
