Franklin County
Received a letter from Franklin County reminding me of my renewal date and got an appointment within 2 days. Their process is pretty awesome. Went in at 11:15 am and was out the door with my renewal license in hand by 11:30. Very friendly staff and they have the process down to as efficient as it can be. Thanks Franklin County!

Re: Franklin County
I think it's great that they remind you that you are nearing the renewal date. I don't think many counties do that.

Glad to hear folks are walking out with them in hand. I need to set an appointment myself.

Re: Franklin County
Renewing next month. Got my original issued in Madison Co but don't know how long it would take to get it back this time.
It seems the only extra step to get it done in Franklin is a2x2 pic so it may be the quickest route for me.

Re: Franklin County
Renewed on Friday, as well as took my wife along to get her first - in and out in 30 minutes for both of us combined. New licenses in hand, including a reprint of the one for the Mrs due to an incorrect expiration date.
There were 4 people already there ahead of us when we walked in - and we were still done in 30 minutes. Franklin county was running it like a well oiled machine that day.

Re: Franklin County
Set an appointment for next week. My first was issued in Madison County due five years ago it took forever to get an appointment in Franklin.
The notice after I set the appointment said that renewals from other countries will be treated the same as a new applicant.
Who has renewed in Franklin from another county and how did it go? Do I need to dig out my training cert and take it with me?

Re: Franklin County
It doesn't matter, you should never need your training certificate again for any reason. If they try to tell you it needs to be treated as a new license instead of a renewal and you need the certificate or need to pay more than $50, that's BS and you need to come back here and let us know so we can help you get them straightened out.k3m1c6 wrote:Who has renewed in Franklin from another county and how did it go? Re: Franklin County
The "new applicant" statement is there so you bring the 2x2 photo ID with you. They add that to your folder in Franklin county.k3m1c6 wrote:Set an appointment for next week. My first was issued in Madison County due five years ago it took forever to get an appointment in Franklin.

From the Sheriff's page:
If you are a Franklin County Renewal, you will only need the following:
If you are a Renewal from another county in Ohio, in addition to the Franklin County Renewal List you will need a 2x2 photo for the application.
- An appointment
Application filled out
Your CHL permit
Valid identification
$50.00 Renewal fee
