Wayne County renewal application turned in 5/19. I was in and out in 15 minutes. New CHL arrived today 5/24 with an issued date of 5/19.

Dropped my daughter off at Franklin County for a new permit at 1022 for a 1030 appointment. At 1036, she texted me to pick her up. She got a text at 1430, saying it was done. She called them back from phone number listed on her application and asked if I could pick it up her , since I"m downtown 2-3 times a week and am a permit holder and reside at the same address. Unfortunately, she was told she has to pick it up in person..

Warren County was simply amazing. I had a 6:20 appointment and got there at 6:00. I was out the door with my license in hand at 6:11. I knew Warren County was good, but that was unbelievable!!

What? $10 to take your photo! Haven't heard that before, They don't use the one you bring in for the card, they have to take a digital photo for the card machine! :?:

Even worse, the law about renewals doesn't specify that you must bring a photo...

Sure, I get it - if you want to hold them to the same legal standard we are held to, sometimes it involves a bit of work and sacrifice on your part. Like, asking for the basis for their extra-legal requirement, and being willing to stand your ground and insist that if it isn't specified in Ohio law they can't require it. Then, being willing to go up the food chain and involve the Sheriff, etc. (Oh, and you might want to start the process a little before your license expires so that you don't lose your ability to carry concealed while working it all out...)

Now, if you aren't inclined to do so over a $10 picture, that's OK too. I suspect most aren't. But if you are, or if the issue is a larger one (like being required to provide the original training certificate, or being required to apply as a new license when it should be a renewal, etc) and would like help, just let us know. There are folks in the organization that are quite good at compelling public officials to follow the law...

I once got some help from our county auditor in making the former sheriff simplify the licensing procedures. I showed the auditor how many Hamilton County residents were using Clermont, Butler and Warren Counties instead. He confirmed the figures (hey, he's an auditor after all) then he must have had a little sit down with the sheriff.
After that, only two in-person visits were required instead of three, and I'm told the sheriffs staffers became more cordial.
My point being, sometimes going up the chain works.

I posted a separate topic, but then saw this..

Franklin County: Arrived 15 mins early for appointment, was called in early, and was able to leave at my scheduled appointment time with my renewed license. (after reading some of the previous posts) They took a new photo at no extra charge.

I’m not sure if anyone has posted anything about Seneca County (I don’t have the time to look through all 30 pages), but when I applied for my license, the officer in charge of administering was quite friendly. I had my license the third day after applying

I got my first license from Seneca county and it was very easy. Now I am almost ready for the renewal according to their website it says I must provide the certificate of firearms qualification for renewal.

The website is wrong, that is not a requirement for renewal (doesn't look like they've updated it since 2009, so...). I suspect if you call them they will tell you you don't need anything more than your expiring/expired license, application, and fee.

I renewed in Clermont County. Went in on a Tuesday 10/31, walk-in no appointment necessary. In and out in less than 15 minutes. I was surprised that it took into the first week of Decemeber (5 weeks) to get the renewed CHL in my mailbox but then thinking about it, it arrived exactly 1 week before my expiration date. I'm looking at it as Clermont County did me a favor issuing the CHL one week before expiration (even if they could've gotten it done earlier) maximizing my CHL dollars :D
