What I need to find out (for Columbiana County) is whether exactly the same ritual will appy....
We had to go to downtown Salem to drop off our initial applications at the Courthouse, and then make two trips to the County Jail (WAY the heck in the middle of nowhere) to do the final processing, and later pick up the CHL.
There seems to be no reason to go to the Courthouse, and, for that matter, two trips to the Jail....
Not to mention the kid in Jail clothing who walked up to me and said "here for the CHL course?". 1911 locked in the glovebox....
Regards,

In a strange twist of fate, I find that we'll be moving (but staying within Hamilton County) in the next month. My 90-day renewal window will open prior to my need to notify for change of address, so I should be able to accomplish both at the same time.jabeatty wrote:Thanks; I've got about 45 days before the renewal window opens up for me, and I think I'm going to stick with renewing in Hamilton County as that's where my license was issued.
PS - rsturm, have you received your renewed license yet? Just wondering what the turnaround time is looking like. Thanks!

You let them keep your original? You should have taken your original for them to view and given them a copy. If that is the case, good luck with your renewal, they may want to see your original again.trent wrote:They (Logan County) kept my training certificate when I got my license. I have to renew this summer, I am glad I made photo copies.

Note above, they are to destroy everything "other than".logos wrote:It is my understanding that they are not permitted to keep the prints, or any of the other things you were required to submit.elderboy02 wrote:Could anyone tell me why they fingerprint you twice? It is not like they change.
(B) If a criminal records check and an incompetency records check conducted under division (A) of this section do not indicate that the applicant fails to meet the criteria described in division (D)(1) of section 2923.125 of the Revised Code, except as otherwise provided in this division, the sheriff shall destroy or cause a designated employee to destroy all records other than the application for a license to carry a concealed handgun, the application to renew a license to carry a concealed handgun, or the affidavit submitted regarding an application for a temporary emergency license to carry a concealed handgun that were made in connection with the criminal records check and incompetency records check within twenty days after conducting the criminal records check and incompetency records check.
According to the law the Sheriff should have your original application and competancy record on file. By law they are not allowed to destroy those.
Sue them if they did!
