Montgomery County CHL

Post by Jumper »

Hello All, I’m new here. I applied for my CHL in Montgomery County on 12/11/07 and I was wondering how long others have had to wait for Sheriff Vore. They said they were running about 5 weeks, but I’m hoping it doesn’t take that long.

It's usually not the sheriff that is the problem. I wrote the AG about the long wait. It took me 42 days to get mine in Hamilton County.

The AG said the "Civilian Identification Dept." is understaffed. This department does over 700,000 background checks a year.

Welcome Jumper,
I wish you'd have asked before applying. I live in Montgomery county but applied in Warren county. It took 2 days. The average for Montgomery is 25 days.

It took Monty county 44days, 23 hours, and 56 minutes to issue mine.
<G>

But they probably had to bump mine up to the next level of checking, because after all, Uncle Sam did train me to be a Demolition Specialist, which for some reason pops up on my profile. Don't know why, my buddy when I was in the service did the same thing as I did. He said he doesn't have any problems.

Took Montgomery Co 29 days to do mine a couple years ago. A couple days less for my wife. Welcome to the forums!

For what it is worth here's what I know.

I applied in Delaware Co. and listed Montgomery Co. as one of my former residences. The clerk told me it should take about a week. After two weeks, I called and was told that Montgomery Co. had not responded to the request for the background check and that she would resubmit it.

Got the CHL after 39 days but it appears that Montgomery Co. was not too quick to aid the process.

Montgomery County said they were running about 5 weeks. They just called and said my CHL is ready to be picked up, 36 days after I applied. So it was 5 weeks and a day. I tried to call yesterday and check the status but I kept getting a recording about the application process. I should have gone to Warren County but I didn't check this forum until after I had applied. I can now carry my new Glock 26.

Why would they need to contact other counties? Your arrest record should be available to them right there.

I assume you are responding to my post above. I don't know but I can guess that since I moved out of Montgomery Co. in 1966 and so stated on the form they might have been looking for any records from before computerization and centralization of the data. Just a hunch since I don't know how far back the automated records go and I didn't ask.
