Mount Vernon has no gun signs in their city park downtown in the square.
Any members in the Mount Vernon area that can take a look for us?

Dear Council Members and Law Directors-
It has come to my attention that the city of Mt. Vernon has posted "No Guns" signs at Public Square.
I have not driven by to confirm this.
If there are no such signs posted, my acquaintance may have been mistaken.
However, if there ARE such signs posted, they would be in violation O Ohio Revised Code 9.68 and would need to be removed or corrected immediately to avoid a potential lawsuit.
The reason I am contacting the city is to let you take action to avoid wasting taxpayer money in fighting such a lawsuit. The city of Cleveland spent over $70,000 to lose one such case in 2010.
I do hope I have bad information and that there are no such signs. If that is the case, please disregard this email BUT TREAT IT AS A PUBLIC RECORD.
If you could have someone respond, I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

Whether they can make firearm rules is under litigation. They have an argument to that effect, but it's a weak one.MyWifeSaidYes wrote:As a political subdivision, OSU still can't make any firearm rules, so open carry is fine...but concealed carry is not.
