Brooklyn Heights Parks-Save for 2nd Round

Post by phatcat »

I didn't see any gunbuster signs at Brooklyn Heights Park, but I thought I'd check the local ordinances anyway. Low and behold, I found a 9.68 violation. Brooklyn Heights Ordinance 1068.08-Firearms reads:
No person within any park, except police officers of the Village, shall carry firearms of any description, air rifles, sling-shots, or other missile-throwing devices, or explosive substances of any kind, including, but not limited to, fireworks. This section shall not prohibit the discharge of firearms or fireworks when authorized by Council.
I'm sorting through the village employee directory trying to find who to contact. I'll keep you informed.

If you can't find a "Law Director", then I would suggest contacting the council president.

The last village I worked with, I contacted the mayor twice by email and spoke to her directly via phone. The information NEVER MADE IT TO COUNCIL.

I finally had to show up at a council meeting (with a small contingent of our fellow OFCC members) to ask them to fix their ordinance.

The council president asked me to give the mayor my number so she could work on it. She may still drop the ball, but at least I know for certain that all of their council is aware of the issue.
