Sign slogan ideas for Oberlin?
Okay guess I'm "in" for Oberlin on Sunday 9/15. What I need help with is verbiage suggestions for any signs I make and carry. In the past I've found that turning around lefty/liberal/hippie catchphrases into pro gun slogans not only works well, but the media eats them up.
An example would be:
'All that we're saying, is give carry pieces a chance!'
(Parody of a 1960's peace protest song, for those of you youngsters in the crowd.)
Another would be:
'Guns: A woman's (and man's) RightTo Choose'
(I don't think that one needs explanation.)
So, I'm open to more ideas, but try to keep them in this vein of parody. They get the point across and show our side to be the ones NOT losing our tempers. Plus, like I said, the media can't resist them.
Thanks for the help.

Council
I carry a gun for the places I don't expect to be accosted, I avoid places I think I might get accosted.
Do police disarm when in that park?

Re: Sign slogan ideas for Oberlin?
My only suggestion is keep them "tasteful". I was really disappointed in the "bloomberg swallows" sign at the maig rally last week. Oh, and have someone else look at your sign for spelling errors. One very nice sign last week had "too" when it should have been "to". I know, minor stuff, but even a simple, common mistake can undermine credibility.

Dylan wrote it; they made it a hit. Just like John Denver wrote "Leavin' on a Jet Plane" and PPM made it a hit.BriKuz wrote:I thought that was Peter, Paul, and Mary...Brian D. wrote:Another I thought of, thanks in advance Bob Dylan:

Re: Sign slogan ideas for Oberlin?
C'mon now, keep this thread on course.
I've got an idea now that will make those local lefties either run away or make a serious albeit failed attempt to assault me. Just have to decide how much money I want to invest in the needed accoutrements.

This one's pretty good! Perhaps bolden or somehow emphasize the word 'allWe all have the Right to Bear arms

Good point about typographical and grammatical errors.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, this time I'm going for the satirical angle of using signage as a way of laughing at the hippies...hey that's in an old tune someplace isn't it?

Well, you could do that. And it might get you some back slaps from the faithful. It will not improve our reputation amongst the general public.Brian D. wrote:Thanks for the suggestions. I was there on Saturday. We took the moral high ground as decent, reasonable and intelligent people. If folks go back next Sunday and come off as snarky d-bags, it will get some giggles from the gun culture, but don't expect it to improve our general reputation. Personally, I would rather see the strident behavior coming from the other side.
