As I was passing by the Morrow County Fairgrounds in Mt. Gilead, I noticed the gates were still posted.

We're currently deciding on the best approach for these fair boards because we've got the issue all over the state. For the most part all the fairgrounds that have been posted here have been drafted, we're just waiting on a few more things. We're finding that Boards are increasingly difficult to send notices to because the contact information is generic. We need to make sure that the actual Board receives it and not some generic email address/fax machine. Once the notice has gone out the subject of the post will be updated accordingly.

This is in there official rules:

40. Pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code, no person shall knowingly
possess, have under the person’s control, convey, or attempt to convey
a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance onto these premises. A
valid license does not authorize the licensee to carry a concealed
handgun onto these premises.

FireEMSPolice: The problem here is that there is a question of ownership of the property. SOME fairgrounds are owned by the County, and therefore, cannot post the grounds themselves. However, most of the fairs I've talked to claim that the Fair Board owns the property. This is a legal gray area. With 88 counties all dealing with the same thing, how much effort do you think this is worth? I'd be happy to "deputize" you to handle this particular fair.

Was just there this past weekend and they have signs at all the entrances on the fences as you drive in

I've sent my own letter to them... here's hoping my wife and I don't end up in a stand-off at the gate like last year's Wayne County Fair!
