Hello. Glad I was able to join up yesterday. Things went so smoothly that it gave me time to ponder a bit while walking around enjoying that red raspberry milkshake. If I could write a series of Brian D.'s Rules on Open Carry Events, at the top would be:

1) Document (record) what happens, both out in the open and more surreptitiously.

2) Know the applicable laws, and have printed copies of them with you.

3) Bring a crowd. To date, even the most unfriendly law enforcement and/or local government officials seem unwilling to confront and challenge, much less arrest, a group that numbers high into the double digits. in fact those folks will be pretty much absent from the immediate vicinity.

4) If you can't bring a crowd, find some "seasoned" looking participants to join you. It's been my experience that there's a perception that we are not so easily cowed or bullied as younger activists. If nothing else, a Daniel Harless type LEO isn't gonna call us middle aged folks "punks" or the like. Nor treat us with that level of disrespect. Hence keeping everyone's temperment a bit cooler during any encounter.

Sorry about the "Rules" thing there, Tweed Ring, I'm sort of tipping my hat your way with it.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!
