I still am not convinced that they are a private corporation. They are not incorporated in Ohio under that name. More likely the Fair Board is formed under the Hardin County Agriculture Society. Their address is the same as the one listed on the Ag societies 990

OHIO COUNTY & INDEPENDENT FAIRS-HARDIN CO Form 990

And the income listed on the 990 is from the fair operations, also all the Officers you listed are also listed as officers of the Ag Society as well.
Ignorant or Stupid, I'm not sure which is worse. If someone were stupid, at least they'd have an excuse for all the dumb things they say.

IANAL and neither are most people on this board, its just shows more with some than others.

Just as an FYI for anyone who still remembers this, the signs are still up. At least the one on the western most entrance off Letson Ave/Hardin County Highway 140.

Left a VM. The office is closed until Wednesday.

Left info to defeat arguments about being "independent" or "private" or "not a political subdivision".

Got a reply to my VM regarding the signs at Heart Attack fairgrounds.

I swear that's what he says.

Here, see what YOU think: http://www.ohionets.com/stuff/agsoc-har ... rounds.mp3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Signs should be down before the fair starts if they aren't already.

The Hardin County Fair is September 2nd - 7th this year.

Let's remember to roll past the fairgrounds sometime in October to make sure the signs haven't popped back up.

Thanks MWSY !

I'll take a look tomorrow morning, before I go to the range.

Actually he did say Hardin County, you just need to know be able to understand our accent.

I blame the migrant workers from Kentucky that came here to pick the onions on the Scioto Marsh in the 1920's & 1930's.

The Tale of the Scioto Marsh, :http://tiny.cc/pts7ix "The laborers who migrated to the marsh were often from Kentucky coal country ... " .

"...A strike began two days later against larger growers, with landowners hiring special armed deputies (some with submachine guns) and the state sending a unit of the Ohio National Guard to McGuffey..."

"... Portions of the labor vs. owners story are reminiscent of "Grapes of Wrath" with strikers vs. nonstrikers, and families split over the issue, writs of injunction, outside agitation and violence (sticks, stone, and firearms), rising hostilities in July, a 23-day heatwave, and the mayor's home damaged by a "bomb."

Fair Board meets tonight at 7:30 pm in the office at the fairgrounds. My guess he needs to bring it up before all the Board before any decision is made.

Rode past there this afternoon, they've removed the sign at the West entrance also. The East gate still has them in place.

Can I get a complete tally of what signs are still up and where they are located.

I haven't been to this fairgrounds, so you'll have to describe where they are to me like I'm stupid.

That's how people usually talk to me anyway. :P

Pictures taken far enough back to recognize the area would be a help. I can offer to email them when next I call.

There are just two left up at the eastern gate.
The gate accessing the Community Building is the western one. Those are gone now.

From today's Kenton Times :
http://www.kentontimes.com/localnews/fa ... secretary/

"• Grounds Committee – Jim Bidwell, Chairman
- The Arts and Crafts building set up day will be Aug. 20 at 7 p.m.
- The lock on the Arts and Crafts building has been fixed.
- The “No Guns” sign on fence has to be removed. They can only be posted on the buildings. The board will check with the county commissioners and sheriff about posting buildings..."
