So I traded for some Hornady 265-gr FTX .430" bullets. Figured I could load them in some .44 Mag cases and workup a decent deer load. WRONG!
These are too long for .44 Magnum. I realized that they wouldn't work in revolvers pretty quickly as I had a revolver at the bench with me and tried them in the cylinder only to see the polymer nose sticking out the front. No problem, I have a Rossi Ranch hand in .44 Mag and they should work in that, right? WRONG AGAIN!
Looking at Hornady's website this bullet is for the .444 Marlin. The correct FTX bullet for .44 Mag is the 225-gr variant.
So now I have a tube full of cartridges in my Ranch Hand that won't chamber. Those will be fun to get out. Then I get to pull them all down.
Just another day of playing around with load development. Learn from my mistakes.

What was your OAL of the loaded rounds ?? I'd be worried about how deeply they seat too.
Hornady makes a 225 grain FTX and specifies a trim to length
for 44 magnum cases to use that bullet. Some users saw on on live target gains, nor were they more accurate than an XTP apparently.
