Is lead plumbing pipe any good for casting bullets? Is so, what is a good price to pay?

Should be fine, but you'll need to flux the daylights out of it to clean it up and then work on an alloy to give you the right hardness. As to prices, scrap lead was going for around $0.35/lb last time I checked.

Extremely soft. But it's workable. I used it with success with .45acp by using wheel weights. It's been years, but I'd guess 50-75% wheel weights running very low speeds.

Sounds like it was very easy for you to work with. Might even say...a lead pipe cinch.

If you know any black powder/muzzle loader shooters, they'll want that dead soft unalloyed lead!
