Stainless media input wanted

Post by Morne »

I have a cheapo harbor freight tumbler. I use crushed walnut media now but have heard people rave about stainless media. Anyone here have any thoughts? Do you use it wet or dry? If wet, what is the liquid you use?

I use the pins in a Frankford Arsenal rotary tumbler with water and some ultrasonic cleaner (lot of recipes for other good things out there). For rifle brass, the results are amazing (pretty much like new, including inside and primer pockets), for pistol cartridges, not a big difference to corn media cleaned ones).

I use the Harbor freight single drum tumbler and wish I had bought the twin drum model.
I add brass and 1 lb. of pins and fill with water to cover them, add 3 drops of dawn dish soap, and a pinch of lema-shine and run the tumbler for about 40-45 minutes then rinse well with water.

I use small magnets from harbor freight to separate the pins from the brass and mix.

Where do you get the stainless media, and what is it called?
Thanks

I bought mine at midwayusa.com. It came together with the tumbler (Frankford Arsenal), but if you search for "stainless steel pin media", you can find it pretty much in every reloading online store, and on ebay and amazon as well.
